Andrew Samonsky, who created the role of Lt. Eustis Carmichael in the Tony-winning revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, will step into the role of Lt. Joe Cable Jan. 6, 2009.
Samonsky succeeds original star Matthew Morrison, who plays his final performance Jan. 4, 2009.
January 6 will also feature original cast member Matt Caplan stepping into the role of Professor (succeeding Noah Weisburg) and Eric Anderson joining the cast in the role of Stewpot (originally created by Victor Hawks). Both Weisburg and Hawks will also give their final performances Jan. 4.

Posted: 12/31/08 at 4:44pmYay Andrew! I'm so glad to see he's movin' on up in the world. I saw him in a regional production of tick, tick...BOOM! a couple of years ago and he was BRILLIANT.

Posted: 12/31/08 at 4:44pmI guess Kelli extended...I had heard that her final performance was supposed to be January 4th. Maybe there is still hope to see Kelli and Paulo together in this show!! When does Paulo return?

It also says Noah Weisberg is leaving on 1/4.
Does anyone know what he has lined up next/why he's leaving?

Samonsky is NOT one of the hot butts in Wash That Man. Those belong to Bob Lenzi and Nick Mayo. When will Charlie Brady do that scene???
This is still the best show on Bway.

Posted: 1/2/09 at 11:42amSamonsky is a gifted singer, is handsome is all get out, and I dare to say, looks better shirtless than Morrison, if that's possible.

Posted: 1/2/09 at 11:45amI found him incredibly dull in the role. He didn't command the stage.

Who? Morrison? If so, ditto on that sentiment.

Posted: 1/3/09 at 1:40amNo, Samonksy. I thought his singing voice was great though. And certainly looked like a soldier, but just didn't have any sort of spark for me.
