Of the current Broadway cast, which Christine would you recommend? Sandra Joseph or Rebecca Pitcher?

I am trying to decide who's performance to buy tickets to. I have already seen Sandra and I thought she was great. I can't decide if I should just see Sandra again or give Rebecca a try.

Thanks!

Give Rebecca a try. I saw her on tour and liked her.

Anyone but Sandra! She's the worst Christine ever.

This tired show is still playing? Spend your money on something worthwhile, especially since you've already seen this.

I haven't seen Sandra, but I saw Rebecca twice on tour. Her acting was wooden and her singing was sharp, although she did have a beautiful voice. That was 3 years ago, so hopefully she's improved since then.

Rebecca is a wonderful Christine, and I highly recommend giving her a try. I've seen her on tour several times, and am thrilled that she'll be in NYC for a while. She is quite a good actress, and her voice is stunning...My vote would go to Rebecca over Sandra.

See Ya!

I'd for for Sandra over Rebecca. Both are pretty robotic, but I find Rebecca pretty lifeless in the role. If you can, catch this Saturday's matinee performance with understudy Christine Susan Owen.

Oh Sant, give it up already. dlthom has already stated that they've seen Sandra and had enjoyed her performance.

TBone:

Someone likes Sandra - great, they're entitled to have their opinion! Doesn't bother me.

Am I not entitled to have an opinion?? Especially if it is different from others?

Someone has enjoyed Sandra's performance, great. Glad they liked it. I hated it, period.

Get over it.

Sant -

You are most certainly entitled to your opinion, and if this thread had been posted by someone who had not seen Sandra I probably would not have been bothered by your post. But dlthom CLEARLY stated they had already seen Sandra perform and enjoyed her. I just don't see where your posting "Anyone but Sandra! She's the worst Christine ever" would have helped them make their decision being that they had already been able to judge SJ's performance for themselves.

I've heard very bad things about Sandra, go with Rebecca.

TBne:

Well try and see this: even though she/he enjoyed SJ's performance, seeing someone else would definitely be even more enjoyable experience...!

I just think that there are better ways of getting your point across than "She's the worst Christine ever!" I just feel that was unnecessary considering the poster had already expressed their feelings for her performance.

I would give Rebecca a try. I've never seen her, but I've heard good things.

I have seen Sandra and I thought she was good. Nothing amazing. After the show she said that she had been "holding back" since it was towards the end of the week and her voice can't make it. I thought that was a sign that maybe she should leave the show if her voice couldn't make it through the week. The bad part was that it was actually obvious that she had been holding back.

"I thought that was a sign that maybe she should leave the show if her voice couldn't make it through the week."

I agree.

I just saw her on Monday (Aug 01) performance and she missed some notes by a mile! Like, she couldn't hit the high note in the roof scene ('... my soul began to soar...') and she a couple of other not-quite-there notes as well. And that was her first show of the week.

Greatdct/Sant - I have seen Sandra several times, and didn't think she was really giving the role her "all". ALW created a sort of "rule" that one actress will not play Christine for the entire run during the week. If the actress' voice is constantly struggling and she's not playing each performance each week, maybe keeping her in that role should be re-thought?!? Rebecca's voice really is wonderful. It's a natural tendency to over-shoot a note, and it's a much better mistake to make instead of coming up short and going flat, lol. Sandra is not bad, but honestly, if the rest of the cast is constantly "on"...Then the leading female should be as well. I am thrilled to be able to see Rebecca in New York, I have a feeling she'll be a breath of fresh air.

See Ya!

I thought they were both equally good. But so far, Julie Hanson is my favorite Christine.

My boyfriend saw Sandra when he was in New York over a year ago and enjoyed her. I saw Rebecca in POTO tour when I was in 7th grade which was about five or six years ago. I liked her voice she wasn't as pitchy as you guys say then. Honestly I don't remember much of any of the performances, but I remember the acting was a bit wonky. It was late in the week and maybe that had something to do with it. Sometimes I didn't feel the chemistry between the actors, which can be difficult. But I do remember Rebecca and thought her voice was good.
