Posted: 12/24/05 at 7:28pmI think her voice is unexceptional, but not bad. She'd be good as Roxie I bet. I can sort of see her in The Pajama Game also.

Oh, JoeMike, tell us more about Sarah's turn in How To Succeed...
I don't see her in The Pajama Game just because I think that's a bad show, and I don't like the character of Baby. I see Sarah Jessica Parker in a meatier role, she could act Roxie but can she dance the role? I don't want Sarah Jessica Parker to be mocked by everyone just like Melanie Griffith.

The problem with SJP is she is a child star that still thinks she can sing. She can't. Seriously.
Now plays or even a non-singing role in a musical, I'd think she be grand, but anything that requires her to belt or wabble something out... no...

She has a lot of background in dance. I don't think it would be a problem for her.

Posted: 12/25/05 at 4:11pmSHE CAN SING! She isn't some powerhouse vocalist, but she can hold her own. Anyways, I think I'd rather see an actress with a nice voice that can actually ACT while singing a song then just have some crazy belter sing the **** out of a song. That is something that SJP can do. I can't say the same for some current and recent Broadway actresses.

I mean Christina Applegate was great in Sweet Charity, is she a great singer? Of course not, but she made the role her own and she was the star of the show. Am I saying that Sarah Jessica Parker should sing the role of Glinda? Or that she should be the next Christine? No. I just think she's a great actress who has a lot of presence, and that even if she doesn't have a mind-blowing singing voice, she could do a great show that doesn't require a big belter or anything like that.
And if she indeed has background in dancing, then what are the Weisslers waiting for to cast her as the next Roxie Hart?

I would be excited if SJP came back to the stage. I trully love her! I liked her in H$S, and enjoy her musical-comedy voice in once upon a mattress. I think as everyone stated, she isn't a belter. She definitely can hold her own, though. If a musical-comedy role came along, I think she would be gread.
However, I would love to see her in a straight play. I think she could show her real acting ability if she did a drama or comedy.
I am glad she's pondering coming back to the stage, and not just turning into a Stage-Actress turned TV/Movie star who thinks they are too good for B'way.
