I'm a huge Sarah Silverman fan. How is she in the Rent film?

Absolutely perfect casting. People literally laughed as soon as she appeared on screen because of preconceived feelings about her. She's hysterical.

When I read that she had been cast as Alexi, I nearly wet myself. Because I knew she'd be perfect for it.

She's hilarious in the part. I kind of wish she could have sang the voicemails...but still. She's extremely funny in the role.

Loved her in RENT - but be forwarned - her part is almost overshadowed by what's going on in the background. I found myself almost not able to listen to her dialogue LOL

Yeah, I think I'm in love with Sarah Silverman. I had already thought she was pretty cute, and then after that hilarious bit she did in the movie "The Aristocrats," she convinced me that she was just about the coolest girl on the planet.

what else has sarah silverman been in? i saw her in school of rock and found her funny/annoying. is she just a type cast for this type of role?

People laughed because SHE, herself is funny...not because she's funny in the movie. Her material really isn't comical - it's very straight forward.

It is, but I think Munk was saying that people laugh more at SARAH then they do at ALEXI. They literally laugh before she even opens her mouth.

Alexi Darling is funny for the same reason Ben Stiller's role in Reality Bites is funny. It's because it's an over the top commericial television exploitation producer type character.

Her part is very, very small. The film doesn't dwell much on the whole Buzzline thing. I actually sort of wish they "showed" a clip of the show to indiciate its supposed sleaze rather then just mentioning it in passing, but the entire film goes so fast, its almost a cliff notes version of the Broadway show.

She is funny, but I agree, people are laughing because of the actress not the role. It's like Will Ferrell's entrance in WEDDING CRASHERS.
