Yeah, it's easy for someone to say "Hey, I know an actor who knows Stephanie who says she will definitely play Elphaba." I just did. Don't take it seriously yet; treat it as a rumor until there is an official press release or article or something.

First of all, it's been announced Harvey Fierstein will be the next Elphaba.

Posted: 10/4/04 at 12:38amI think Stephanie J. Block would be a great Elphaba considering the fact that she was the one who helped with the music for the role before Idina was cast. She really is an incredible performer and I think she would be great considering when Idina leaves they will need someone with some fanbase to bring people into the show. Think of all of her fans from Boy From Oz.... I think she is a great choice.

I was skeptical too when this award winning musical comedy leading man who has starred opposite Stephanie told me that she was definitely taking over the part. He then repeated to me that yes, it was a done deal. I feel inclined to believe him more than any post I read on this board. But of course we'll never be 100% sure until it is officially announced. I don't think she'd be right for the role at all, even though I LOVE everything she has done. I've followed her since her Les Mis days...she's usually the ingenue type, isn't she? Wouldn't she be a better Galinda? I don't know if she'd fit either role...
is anyone planning in seeing her in Cinderella? I wish I could go! (but alas, I'm in LA)
