A friend and I are having dinner at Sardi's before seeing "Exit The King" on Friday... What is the attire like? Do I need to wear a tie?

When I go I wear a button up and slacks. I don't think a tie is a necessity.

My moms always said, "If you have to ask about your clothes, you know the answer..." Dress up, it's fun, have a good time! Be the star that you are.

The last vampire is the mother of all vampires and that is the vampire of despair. It'll wake you up at 4am to say things like: Who do you think you are kidding? You look like a fool! No matter how hard you try, you'll never be good enough! Why is it that if some dude walked up to me on the subway platform and said these things, I'd think he was a mentally ill as-h-le, but if the vampire inside my head says it,It's the voice of reason! I'm at Sardi's on a fairly regular basis. I've seen EVERY type of getup there, but I think casual (i.e., slacks, shirt and tie optional) is the safest bet. Tie is definitely not required (and forget jackets), but I think it adds a nice touch.

I've been there several times. I am 21 so I usually wear dress pants or jeans with a sweater/sweater vest and nice casual jacket. But you can wear anything really.

I always ask myself, WWPS? (What Would Patti Say?).

Probably she'd say to dress up because "We have forgot-ten hour pub-lic man-ners."

(hehe I'm making a reference to the last weekend of Gypsy in case some folks get confused).

I would dress up. In my opinion, I would say yes with the tie. You will look nicer sandy attire.

Or you could do what I like to do sometimes and dress according to the show you are seeing.

Above: me at "Oliver!" in London.

So for "Exit The King" something regal would do nicely.

...and for "Blithe Spirit" next month, especially as I'm in the front row, I plan on wearing my tuxedo and black bowtie!
