Hi there. I'm in Nyc for 1 day on Sat Nov 5. Flight gets in lga at 10am. I only have a budget of about $50US but would love to see Color Purple matinee or evening. I've seen online price of $75. Wondering if I can get cheaper ticket at the box office day of performance?  Just need 1 tickt. I realize I'll be too late for rush tickets since I prob can't get to the box office before 11am. Is SRO still an option?

SRO is sold only if the show is sold out. You can check the box office to see what they have (sometimes rush isn't sold out either). But i'd recommend buying your ticket from TKTS both in Times Sq. They usually have it at 50?these days. The only downside is that it is 50? on best available seat. So if there's a $140 orchestra ticket, you'll pay $70 - which is still cheaper than playing full price for rear mezz. Or you could get 50? off on the $75 ticket which would be ideal.

You can do a price compare by checking out BO first and then heading over to TKTS. Latter also has a mobile app which will at least tell you if there's a discount - would recommend downloading it

Enjoy the show!

TodayTix with someone's discount code, if you never used the app before (eh, what the hell, use mine VGWAW) is probably your best bet. That would get you a $65 ticket ($75-$10). That may be as cheap as you can get in...

But SRO seems unlikely, and even TKTS doesn't always offer all price levels at 50% off, since they usually try to unload the pricier tickets.

The only other option is if you are a TDF member, since they sometimes have Color Purple tickets (although not yet for Saturday), but if you aren't, and if you qualified, by the time you paid the annual membership fee, you would go over the $65 above.
