Ok, well my dream came true, and I saw the screening of RENT that I wanted to get into. It seemed like mostly the crew and some of the cast was there. We were told it was the first screening of the finalized flim in New York.

I wanna keep my comments on the film short for now, but if anyone has any questions please feel free to private me and I'll do my best to answer them.

First off, over all I REALLY enjoyed the film, but I'll start off with my only quibble about it. I think the time change...the movie takes place in 1989/1990 doesnt really work for me, but I want other people to see it for themselves and find out if I'm the only one who feels this way or not. Id be interested to hear people's opinions after more screenings and the movie officially opens.

Lasty, I just wanna touch upon my favorite moments. The opening (Seasons of Love) all the actors on a stage, pretty much saying, we are the players and this is our story... One Song Glory, showed a montage of Rogers relationship with April), Tango Maureen the fantasy sequence during this song KICK BUTT, Idina LOOKS AMAZING, I'm gay but she was so HOT. and my last fav moment Without You, another montage, this time of Mimi and Roger's relationship.

Finally (except the time change) someone did a movie musical some justice.

I'm going to cry my eyes out when I see Glory. I'm absolutely going to lose it.

I'm curious -- does it SAY anywhere what year? I thought this was cleared up ages ago... And, I mean, change from what? It was never specific.

Do you think it's oscar material?

Emcee, I wish I see the movie with you. I'm going to need someone to hold my hand.

anthony, adam, tracie(sp?), idina, taye (at least at the end) were the people I physically saw, but i heard almost everyone was there

no comment on the oscars just because I dont see enough movies to know

and i always figured the broadway musical took place in roughly 1993/1994ish or 1994/1995, just before the 1996 opening, I figured with jonathan was writing it, thats when it took place, his current time...in the movie they clearly say 1989/1990

Anyone not in LA should've been there -- which is the majority of the cast. re: Saw A Screening of RENT tonight... (spoilers, maybe)

Me too, Allie. I'm going to need to hold someone's hand.

Are you saying that this film is the only movie musical that you think is good?!

What was the audience reaction? Anyone not like it? Was there a Q&A afterwards?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Gotcha. Took place in New York or LA? And are you part of the crew?

I just get more and more excited each day.

I sure hope the cast loved it. It'd be sad not to be proud of your own work. re: Saw A Screening of RENT tonight... (spoilers, maybe)

Oooh, sorry for adding another post, but what did you think of the performances? How was the acting? Will we all be oh-so-proud? ^_^
