SUTTON CAME OUT! The show was so fantastic. Really, everyone in the theater was saying stuff about how many Tonys they think the show will win. I had front row mezzanine tickets, and the view was great. You could see everything. After the show, Sutton was the first person to come out of the stage door. Everyone else came out (Bob Martin the last) but Georgia Engel. What ever. The show was so great though. THe costumes, the lighting, everything was so amazing. Sutton really did an amazing job.
Is it rare for Sutton to stagedoor?

We love a show that gets buzz by people who actually saw it!
Hopefully they will spread the word.
Did you get a sense as to whether the crowd was locals or more out-of-towners?
People was saying that she had not been coming out for a while but she is now. On Wednesday the same thing happened everyone was saying that it's going to be so sucessful. I really think it deserves to be. It's really fantastic. Also has anyone ever seen Joan Rivers at a show? she was at Drowsy on Wednesday and at Sweeney last month.

She is usually all for the fans and respect and stage dooring, but this past week she has not signed, which is VERY unlike her, but I guess she's back to herself.
Yeah but didn't she do something with QVC and DRS? That's understandable.
It was both out of towners and locals. The all of the actors were so gracious about coming out. A lot of them were asking around and really were curious to get peoples feedback on the show. When Lenny Wolpe came out he asked me how I liked the show, where I was sitting, how my seats were, etc. A lot of actors were also asking about the lottery, and how many people show up for them, etc. Probably one of my favorite stage door expieriences!

There were mostly locals when I saw it 2 weeks ago. Granted it was a matinee, so it was mostly local older folks. Not really abnormal.

The show is really fantastic, everything is so amazing. I saw it last week. I think most people were locals actually.
My friend went on concierge night the other night and called me as he was leaving the theatre raving about the show. I hope to see it in June when I am there.

Sutton's very, very nice. Like I said in previous threads, I was there on Wednesday, when they were filming the advertisment. I was with a friend, who had seen her in Little Women and Millie and wanted her autograph on the respective Playbills. He asked her if she wouldn't mind signing a bunch. She said to him "No, I can't go to lunch right now. I have a show to do." He looked at her funny and said "okay, but would you mind signing a bunch?" She started laughing and replied "Oh, I thought you asked me to lunch!"
It makes me think....would she have gone to lunch if she wasn't performing?
Sutton did not come out after I saw the show on Monday, but I had a LOVELY chat with Danny Burstein who, in my opinion should be Tony nominated for this show.
(I still think JB deserves 'Best Musical' though.)
Sutton did talk to everyone. She had someone there that she knew, I can't think of his name right now but I definalty recognize him. I will find out soon. Sutton posed for autographs, signed ANYTHING, etc. Great, great actress!

I'm glad you liked it too!
I saw Drowsy at the 1st preview, and did the stage door thing. I got to meet Sutton, told her "It's so great to see you again". She smiled, said "thank you" and signed my Playbill.
OK, no big deal to anybody but me, but I just just want to say again that that she is just as sweet as she is talented.
And wow, what a "Show Off"!
Gotta love her!
Sutton is hysterical. She's so sweet.
Sutton posed for autographs
She posed for autographs? :-P
I saw Drowsy Chaperone a few nights ago and LOVED IT! It was the funniest and one of the most enjoyable musicals I've ever seen! And I got to get Sutton's autograph and picture. I was so nervous because she is soooooo amazing but she is the sweetest person ever!

i saw it last night too! it was amazing!!
i was soo surprised when sutton came out! she was so nice! she signed two playbills for me.
i overheard her talking to one of her friends who was @ the door with her. she was telling him how she was engaged, but didn't have her ring on.
Ya, Hunter was there. She was so suprised to see him! When they saw each other she gave him a big hug, and he told her that Tony possibilites are looking good for her! She was just like "YOU THINK SO?!??". GREAT NIGHT!
I did the lotto for the Drowsy matinee on Saturday and loved it. Sutton didn't come out after the show because she had physical therapy and I'm assuming Georgia Engle never comes out but the rest of the cast did and they were lovely. Also Blythe Danner came out after the show and signed a few autographs.
