Yesterday I thought I would take a chance at trying some lotteries, so I figured since Wicked and Spelling Bee were right next to eachother, then I would do them both. Well, as always I lost Wicked, but I won Spelling Bee!!! I was so excited, the only other lottery I have won is Rent, and I know everyone can win that.
I loved it!! I thought it was so funny, and I can completely understand why it won best book of musical at the tonys. The performances were also hilarious, normally when I see a show there is usually one person that I don't think was very good or well cast, but the cast was so great. Everyone was hilarious, and the sentences made me fall over in my seat. The seats were a little uncomfortable since they were practically on the floor, but for $25, you can't beat it!!! I also thought, have only seen Spelling Bee and Spamalot, and not DRS, and Light in the Piazza, that of the 2 I have seen I liked Spelling Bee a lot more and would have picked that for best musical over spamalot. Spamalot is good once, and it is just a bunch of dry british humor. I thought spelling bee was original and funny, but not annoying and at sometimes insulting funny, like spamalot. All in all, I really enjoyed Spelling Bee, and I hope that my winning the lotteries it a trend, I can only hope!

Agree here as well, although for me it was between DRS & BEE...giving the slight edge to DRS.
Born2cthelightsofbway you couldnt have described SPAMALOT any better....also, try the DRS lottery next...its kind of easy to grab a ticket for that as well...you may have to try 2 or 3 times, but youll get in there too and it is a Gloriously Hysterical show!

I think it's a terrific show, too. I am still kind of surprised that a lot of the younger members of this board didn't get in on seeing it early in the run when there were a lot of tickets. I would think they would find it to be a show that speaks to them in genuine tones, about rejection and perseverance and all the things that a certain show with a green girl pretends to be about. Except Spelling Bee makes sense.
Well, now that it's breaking house records I suppose people will now think they have to see it, and that's good. Because it's a show about all of us, really.

I saw DRS Saturday and Spelling Bee Sunday and adored both productions.
I thought Spelling Bee was flawless. Every actor was brilliant. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer, and that's a compliment.
