anyone else agree?
I loved Brooke. I didn't care about her vocal shortcomings, because... the role was not necessarily written for a singer (Rosalind Russell).
That said, Brooke performed the role beautifully and added her own comic touch to it.

Well, Donna Murphy is a two-time Tony winner and one of the premiere all-around Broadway talents of this generation. Brooke Shields is ........ well, a hard-working good sport with some OK comedic skills, but nonetheless -- because of "Suddenly Susan" and "The Blue Lagoon" -- has a name that sells tickets (not a LOT of tickets, mind you, but some) to out of town tourists. THAT'S why the Weisslers hired her -- not because they thought she would be the second coming of Streisand.
Without Brooke (and Donna Murphy), wouldn't Wonderful Town have closed by now?
Don't forget Linda Mugleston! Without her Wonderful Town would be closed by now!
