Posted: 7/9/05 at 1:00amAlright, Saycon S...omething as Elphaba, how does she look? I saw idina and shoshana and under the green you can tell... they are light skinned underneath the green (the torso green is even a cloth costume) Since Saycon has darker skin, does the green look noticeably different? I'm not meaning to pull the racial card, but its just an observation. Im not saying it would be bad that shes a different green, or trying to make any comments about race at all in fact. Just curious.

There are pictures out on the internet of her as Elphaba. The shade of green appears to be slightly different to suit her natural skin tones. It doesn't look as bright green as the other ladies; it looks more natural, if that makes any sense, considering people don't naturally have green skin.
EDIT: It's Saycon Sengbloh.

Posted: 7/9/05 at 10:24amI'm curious as to what they did with the body suit, as that's a bright green.

Posted: 7/9/05 at 10:33amEvery Elphaba has their own body suit (that's why it's called a body suit). It's just a guess, but I would say they made Saycon's after her make up tests were completed so they could match the green.

Thanks popcultureboy. That's a very sensible explanation. And I'm not quite sure why someone would think it would be such a near impossible task to cover darker skin. Even if Saycon had much darker skin than she does - say coal black - it still wouldn't be that difficult.
Folks it's not the 1950's. Both attitudes and makeup have advanced since then.
