School of Rock Fans (and vinyl record experts)---
Long Story: My (very thoughtful) friend bought me the School of Rock OBC recording on vinyl for my birthday because she knows how much I adore the show. When it arrived at my house (from Amazon), the record skipped in several places on 10 of the 21 tracks (78 total skips throughout). Amazon sent me a replacement which also skipped. They send me a third record -- skips. At this point I was becoming a regular on the Amazon customer service hotline (shoutout to service rep Karen), so I got a refund and bought it from the School of Rock shop run by Platypus Productions LLC. They sent me a new one which (you guessed it) skipped. I called the company and left a message and instead of calling me back, they sent me another one (not what I asked for) and now I have five copies of this record at my house all of which are defective. (I'm probably accountable for 85% of the purchases of this item). Platypus customer service was very nice when they called me back finally, but they said they haven't had any complaints of skipping -- my guess is that A. not many people have purchased this item, or B. they have had complaints and just didn't want to tell me. I don't think this is due to a faulty turntable because it skips constantly in the same spots each time (although I have yet to try it on another turntable).
Has anyone else bought this item and experienced this same issue? Does anyone have a working copy that doesn't skip? Does anyone think this could be because my turntable is faulty? Am I the only person over the age of 11 that's actually bought SOR merchandise? (don't answer that one).
This has been a two-month issue and I would really like to get this fixed and not have to deal with this anymore. I really love this show and would rather not return it and get a refund. Any help is appreciated!

Regardless of anyone else's experience, I'd certainly try it on a different turntable.

Take a look at your needle. Make sure you haven't got any built up dust or lint. Sometimes with a faulty needle it will play okay and hit a spot on the vinyl that for whatever reason is more sensitive (grooves). Odd that it is skipping in same spot. If there are no obvious scratches or bumps/blemishes on the vinyl when you take it out of the package, I would suspect it is your needle.

Thank you guys for the help! We actually have another turntable at home that I forgot about. I took your advice and I tried it out and there is no issue with skipping. Turns out there is an issue with my player after all. Thank you for the advice!
