"Say Hello to Harvey"...the musical version of "Harvey" starring Donald O'Connor;
"Hello, Suckers!"...the bio of Texas Guinan that did a summer stock season starring Martha Raye;
"Cherry"...the "Bus Stop" musical;
"W.C."...as in Fields, with Mickey Rooney and Bernadette Peters.
Did all of these sink without a trace?
Was Steve Allen's score for "Belle Starr" starring Betty Grable ever recorded?

I was actually lucky enough to see Paper Moon at the Paper Mill Playhouse with Christine Ebersole when I was very young. I wish I could remember more but I do remember it being very good.

I still have hope for The Visit.

I have a demo of Cherry plus a live audio recording of Richard Chamberlain & Mary Tyler Moore in Breakfast At Tiffanys

There was a recording made of WC but probably out of print by now.

By the way, the song "A Lousy Life" from "Sherlock Holmes was originally in Say Hello To Harvey

To bad one record label did not record all these orphan scores

Haven't listened to it in years. Plus it is a recording made from theater sound system so the quality is not professional When I listen to it again, I will let you know

Although my Death of a Salesman musical, "Willy's Boys" may one day tread the boards of Broadway...
Has anyone heard Jule Styne's score for "Something More" which starred Barbara Cook?

Dude was recorded--you can get the CD from www.amazon.com (it's a compilation of two recordings made of the work)

Howabout some of the scores of the incredible Michael John laChiusa

Little Fish
Nutcracker
Lovers and Friends
The Highest Yellow
Petrified Prince

All of these deserve to be recorded and preserved in some form and are IMHO important works from perhaps the most promising more recent theatre composer.

Even with the 2 recordings of Dude, there were so many songs not on either recording lost forever as there were a ton of songs in the show.

I have the studio recording of Breakfast at Tiffany's, which represents two versions. It's quite enjoyable. The booklet discusses what went wrong with the show and reportedly Moore was absolutely terrible in the role.

"What the hell happened to you? You look like a Make-A-Wish Kid. You know, I just knew you were gonna bring shame on this new family of ours, and it just figures you had to go make yourself over into some heroin-shootin skate board chic on the only day E! could interview you!" - Cherry Cherry, on her daughter Mary Cherry

Anchorman the musical

I hated that movie!

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere
