Posted: 5/24/07 at 10:25pmYep... mine's still on my TiVo from last time. I watch it every now and then. It's kind of like listening to an old cast recording, but better. :)

Posted: 5/25/07 at 2:29pmWhat actual songs are the Scrubs songs based on? I know that "The Truth Comes Out" is loosely based on "One Day More" and the song at the end is taken from Grease. What about the other songs? Their tunes are familiar, but I can't seem to remember what the titles are.

"I'm Dominican" is very much like "Spanish Rose" from Bye Bye Birdie. "Everything Comes Down To Poo" reminds me a lot of Avenue Q but that's probably because it's by the same writers. Dr. Cox's rant song reminds me of Gilbert & Sullivan patter songs, so maybe that's the inspiration behind it.
I LOVE the Scrubs Musical. It's my favorite episode of any TV show ever.

Scrubs- My Musical is GREAT, but Buffy's Once More With Feeling is just perfection...

AGreed--they're of course completely different shows but Scrubs the musical I doubt would make musical lovers out of its fans by watching the episode if they weren't already. The humour often mocks musical cliches (happy endings etc) which we all know aren't really all that true without really showing what a musical can add to something, besides some silly cute bits.
Buffy on the other hand mocked musical conventiosn while also showing what's so gret about them--Seriously I got an email from a friend who was a Buffy geek but always avoided my attempts to get him into musicals right after the Buffy musiucal aired basically saying "Now I get it"--how well integrated songs can add a layer to the story, characterization and even a stylistic stamp that you just can't have otherwise.

I think "I'm Dominican" is most like The Tango Maureen from Rent...
edit to add: and Dr. Cox's rant is very much "A Modern Major General" from G&S's Pirates of Penzance.
