It's not about wanting you on a ****ing float, genius! It's about being a positive role model for all the kids in similar situations afraid to be themselves!
And as for a DADT attitude, don't give me any of that horse-rot. Before Will and Grace, you were Sean P. Hayes and doing interviews as openly gay for the promotion of Billy's, where you at least didn't play a stereotype. And it did ten dollars in business. I wasn't surprised when you took up the flag of the stereotype and promptly refused to commit to an answer to The Big Question. Truth in advertising is discouraged in showbiz, I'll give you that.
But now this La Cage ripoff philosophy, telling us "you are what you are"? What you are is a ****ing hypocrite who chose to play it safe and walk on thin ice rather than stand up for yourself and your rights as a human being. You didn't see Harry Milstead bitching and moaning about dressing up as Divine and getting the most low-rent gigs known to man, working hard for his money, because he knew what he was ****ing good at and he accepted his lot in life. It doesn't matter who the hell you screw or that you don't get the big juicy roles; if you're working, and you're happy with yourself, and you're not hiding in the dark from people, then and only then you can be whoever the hell you "are." And that's the truth.

Posted: 3/9/10 at 3:15amgvendo - while there might be the kernel of truth in your post, if I were to meet someone like you in public who came off with that kind of holier-than-thou pissy arrogant attitude, my only (fully out and proud so obviously it's ok)reaction would be to punch you in the face. Repeatedly.

Q -
I may be headed nowhere in my career for the choice I made, but I'm happy with myself. How happy can he be that he's only coming back out when there's no juice left in his career?

I don't care about the rest of the article but when discussing my favorite show dear Advocate interviewer plese get your facts "straight" (pun intended):
Promises, Promises is based on Billy Wilder’s classic 1960 black comedy film The Apartment. The musical adaptation follows Chuck (Hayes), a young executive in NYC who secures his corporate ascent by lending the keys to his bachelor pad to his higher-ups for their extramarital dalliances. Chuck falls for Fran (Chenoweth), an elevator operator in their office building and the mistress of one of his bosses. Sadness and romance ensue.
Fran was an elevator operator in the film. In Promises she works in the cafeteria and as a result of her affair with the "big boss" gets promoted to executive dining room hostess.

Posted: 3/9/10 at 3:16pmI can't stand Sean Hayes and don't have the patience for Christian Kathi Lee Chenoweth. And the book of this show is a dated tired relic.

"don't have the patience for Christian Kathi Lee Chenoweth"
I'm glad I'm not the only BWWer who thinks that!

I hated Will & Grace. But nobody is required to be a role model.
