I've seen a lot of stories about experiences people have had being a seat filler at the Tony's, but I was wondering how you get to become a seat filler at the telecast or get a seat at the dress rehearsal?

Did you ever find out? I'm curious about this too. Anyone know who to contact?

The American Theatre Wing usually asks their programs (SpringBoardNYC and the Theatre Intern Network) to seat fill. I don't know if there is anyone outside of those two groups that are asked. That being said, at least the Theatre Intern Network hasn't been asked yet this year (unless it was to a very small group of people).

About 6 years ago my friend was a seat filler and she got it by emailing the tony email on their website. However, when I tried emailing the year after that, they said only their interns would be taking part in it.

Has anyone here been a seat filler at the TONYS? If so, what was the experience like?!

I went to last year's rehearsal by way of tickets given to me by my boss, who I think got them from her boss who was a producer. Or she might have gotten them through another channel...I wish I knew the details!
I think they have a lottery to win tickets too don't they? Or is that just for the actual ceremony?

I have never done it but I believe the opportunity was much greater when the Tonys were held at Radio City and there were more seats visible when the cameras panned the orchestra level. At the Beacon Theater, there can't be anything like the number, so there may be enough interns to fill in without asking the public.

I think they are using seat fillers, not sure how many though.
