Seating at the Schoenfeld
Seating at the Schoenfeld#1

Hey All -
Per an earlier thread, I had expressed interest in THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES. That notion has passed. I am, however, greatly considering booking seats to see ALL MY SONS at the Schoenfeld. Having never ventured inside before - ever in life - I'm curious as to whether or not I could trouble you good people - my beloved BWW familia - for some seating suggestions. Telecharge is offering me C-MEZZ, Row A, 107-08 for one evening, and then, they offer me R-ORCH, Row A, 2-4. I can't seem to get anything closer, but yeah, I figured I toss those 2 out there. Thoughts, opinions, questions, comments, concerns? Any and all insight (re: seating) and/or the actual show would surely be greatly appreciated by this fellow. Many thanks!
Best,
- Mike

I gather by R-Orch you mean right orchestra... as your seat numbers wouldn't make sense in row R... anyway... being on the side... you may lose the projections... and much of the action is blocked on the lip of a mildly thrusted stage... that sounds dirty... which may mean you'd see a lot of backs... I would... for sure... go with front row mezz... you won't miss a thing... the acting is BIG BIG BIG... so... intimacy isn't the name of this particular game.

Oops, I misread. I don't think front row for theater is bad. If you want to see the big picture, go with front mezz. You can still see the actors facial expressions.
But being in front row is always nice too.

First of all (and secondly) thank you guys!
Still have yet to book - Debating with myself.
That's always fun, hmm? Haha!
Are the projections used throughout the evening?
Does the scrim stretch the entire width of the stage?
Hi, I'm slow... LoL
Those production photos (as LOVELY as they are),
kinda make me scratch my head a bit as to 'what it's like'.
Sorry for all these 'silly, little quibbles'.
Thanks a million!

The projections are on the back wall... but don't really stretch the whole length... they're in the center... and really being so far off center would detract from the image created by the projections and the actors... and where all the actions is staged protrudes out into the audience a bit... and a few big moments are staged on the corners of the protrusion... one character sits there for a long time... and I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't see that characters face from the side... It's hard to write this without spoilers... the play is VERY intense... so... it might be fun to watch it up close... to feel a part of the action... but... I think you would lose the integrity of the staging from so close on the side... the added intensity may make up for it... but I'm not sure.
When I saw it in previews... I was at the very back of the orchestra... center... and did not feel left out of the action at all... front mezz seems like it would be ideal... as I said in the previous post... most of the acting is WAY over the top huge... so sitting in the Mezz is not going to be a problem... I don't think. Plus from my seat in the back... I could watch the celebrity audience members and not feel like a goober... Des Macanuff, Michael C. Hall (I think), Frances Macdormand, Harvey Keitel, and Tommy Lee Jones (!!!).
The projections are not used through out... like without stopping... but are used at all most pivotal moments... you won't miss a whole lot of information in the projections... they're are kind of beside the point really, but you will lose the "stage picture" created at those moments... which I thought was quite beautiful/powerful if less than subtle.
Any other specifics... pm me.
