Sebastian news for Rent fans

A friend of mine was speaking to Sebastian Arcelus last night and he told her that he's leaving Rent because he's been cast in Good Vibrations. He's given his notice so it's official.

Great for him! His Roger was just okay, but he's definitely a really talented guy, and I'd love to see him in GV.

For those wondering, he IS taking Justin Guarini's place.

He is absolutely my favorite Mark, but I loved his Roger as well. And y'all are right, he's immensely talented and from what I have read, Good Vibrations is going to be a really great vehicle for his talents. I am just thrilled for the guy!

YES! i saw sebastian as roger a couple of months ago for my third rent experience, and he was really talented. i'm especially happy, however, he's taking over for justin guarini.

He's not the lead...he's a supporting character who "does a LOT." I'm so happy for him, an OBC & everything! I hope there's a recording.

Well, at least we know Sebastian wasn't in the commercial since he got casted within the past few days!

But still, that's unfortunate. The guy at the box office says it's supposed to be reaaally good. Provided, he's a bit biased, I'm sure.

I got a Good Vibrations inflatable beach ball when I bought my ticket there yesterday! That was fun.

and if he is cast in the Jan role, there will be a lot of dancing especially during the "Surfin USA anmd the Darlin number.

Now that you've rephrased it, I agree with you to a certain extent. :) While there are some who keep returning, most actually DO do other things. Matt Caplan is not a good example because he's been in Rent since he was 19 so he hasn't exactly had a chance to do other things because he hasn't left. But many castmembers over the years have done other shows. Just a few, other than the OBC, would be: Norbert, Jim Poulos, Scott Hunt, David St. Louis, Rhett George, Damian Perkins, Richard Blake, Will Chase, Maya Days, Danielle Lee Greaves, Michael McElroy, Manley Pope, Mark Setlock, Tony Vincent, Jai, Cristina Fadale, Peter Matthew Smith, Natalie Venetia Belcon, Shayna Steele, Cary Shields, Saycon Sengbloh, Enrico Rodriguez. I think you get my point.

Explain what you mean by "names"? Rent doesn't have chorus, but they do have ensemble. And of that list, only Rhett George, Tony Vincent, and PMS were swings. All of the others had regular roles. So I'm afraid I'm not getting your point. Almost all of those individuals did, in fact, go on to big roles, most in other Broadway shows; Wicked, Thou Shalt Not, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Big River, AIDA, Miss Saigon, Les Mis, Jesus Christ Superstar, Saturday Night Fever, Avenue Q, Hairspray, The Full Monty, The Wild Party, and another who I didn't mention earlier, Jeremy did Footloose and AIDA after leaving Rent. Although your premise is true for SOME Rent castmembers, it certainly isn't true for most.
