For those of you that got it, how soon did you preorder and where do you live?
Is there anywhere online to listen to clips of each song? I want to order this cd but I'm not familiar with the show or any of the songs. I've just seen photos of the show online and wish that I could have seen it.
There's a really comprehensive Idina Menzel fansite here-> http://www.idina-here.com/ that has some great info. Besides the plethora of other awesome stuff (if you're an Idina fan) that's there, for *this* post topic specifically, go to "media" then "sounds" then "theatre songs", then scroll down and you'll see four song clips from the show (though there are 29 total on the recording, according to amazon). Enjoy.
I got my email Wednesday morning, I got the CD today in the mail. But I think they ship from NYC and I live in NYC, so it didn't have very far to go.
I've probably listened to this recording 3 full times over in the past 15 hours! I'm loving it. There is so much overlapping of the music and lyrics in the different contexts, it's really amazing.
They do ship from NYC. Order it from the site, it's the cheapest you'll be able to get it for. 14.99 and free shipping and no tax.
Is anyone who has it already willing to post a full-length throrough review of the recording? I'm dying here knowing that others have it, and I don't. Anyone feel like throwin' me a bone?
ETA: Blast. I just checked the mail and no SWIWS today. Now I have to wait for Tuesday. This puts a damper on my winter break.

I live in Toronto and I just bought it from Sh-k boom. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else that would release it sooner
We live in the wrong country!
It's really, really good. Very thorough and everybody sounds great on it. It gives the listener an excellent opportunity to fully realize the complexity of LaChiusa's music---how it all integrates is outstanding.
Kesa and MOrito were probably the most throwaway parts for me when I saw the show, I wasn't sure I totally "got it" but on the recording they are phenonmenal.
I still can't decide if I like R Shomon or Gloryday better. They both have moments that stand out.
Each performer has his/her moment on the recording that they shine. For most of them, it's their bigger solo numbers that you immediately connect with like Marc and Central Park and Mary's There Will be a Miracle is so moving. I like Henry in the finale number and Aaron's Thief throughout the whole R Shomon piece is great.
I'm a big Idina fan and I think she sounds fabu in all of her numbers here, I particularly like No More, but Louie is the stand-out for me on this recording. But I have to say, overall, I think her participation in the ensemble numbers is the best work that she does on the CD.
How much of the show's dialogue is included on the recording?
I honestly can't give you an exact percentage of the dialogue, but
I felt the narrative thread was kept intact even without some pieces of the dialogue.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that between the liner synopsis and how complete the recording is, it isn't that hard to follow. It would, obviously, be harder for someone who never saw the show, but I have to say not impossible.
