I’m planning a trip to New York around Thanksgiving and I’d love to see a show while I’m there. Can anyone help with recommendations?
I really want to see a new musical. I see them whenever I can in London and will enjoy pretty much anything, except I’m not interested in jukebox musicals. I'd also try Off-Broadway. I’m assuming there's no chance of tickets to Hamilton, and as luck would have it I saw Waitress in Boston with the same people I’m visiting in November. With Fun Home and Shuffle Along closing, is there anything else left?
Or are there any musicals for the new season that will start before November? I’m struggling to find out about them online. I’d also go with a promising revival as a second choice.
I’d appreciate your help. Thanks!
If it is still standing ,Something Rotten. The replacement cast is better than many original casts.

Dear Evan Hansen should be in previews by Thanksgiving. I saw it Off-Broadway and it has a great story. The music wasn't totally my thing but many people loved it and there's some great buzz around the Broadway transfer
Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 is also opening in the fall, and while I don't know much about it I've heard great word of mouth from the out-of-town and Josh Groban is finally making his Broadway debut.
I second Something Rotten, isn't an amazing show. Incredibly funny and like Roxy said with a fabulous replacement cast. I saw the original cast twice, would love to see it again with the replacements.
An American In Paris is also a new musical, even though it's based on a very well known property. It's a beautiful production, and many people thought it would win the Tony last year... except then Fun Home did ![]()
In terms of promising revivals, you could look into Falsettos. It's a beloved show and it has A-List cast!
Adding my votes for Something Rotten and Dear Evan Hansen. Saw both (SR twice) and they are excellent. Very different ends of the spectrum though --- SR is hilarious, DEH is a bit dark --- but both wonderful shows.
I've not yet seen it, but the music to Natasha/Pierre is wonderful, and I've read nothing but good things about the staging from the ART. I saw Dear Evan Hansen at Second Stage- personally, I didn't care for it at all, but it wouldn't hurt to check it out and see if it's up your alley.

Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 is listed under Great Comet on Telecharge, FYI. I recommend that as well, though not sure what this incarnation is like.
Dear Evan Hanson or Natasha, Pierre etc.

I haven't seen the current production of Natasha/Pierre... but it was incredible off broadway a few years ago. I would highly recommend it. I am also looking forward to Dear Evan Hansen which starts around the same time.
Thanks for your suggestions! I love the score of Dogfight and didn't know Pasek and Paul had a new musical opening, so I'll definitely take a look at Dear Evan Hansen. I like a dark musical if it's well-written. I'm also intrigued by the idea of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. These two will be top of my list.
I'll keep in mind Something Rotten and An American in Paris too, in case my relatives prefer something tried and tested. I didn't know Falsettos was being revived! I just looked up the cast and it's great. I saw a fringe production of Falsettoland years ago and enjoyed it a lot. School of Rock's going to get a London production so I'm in no rush to see it on Broadway.
I kept reading about closing notices and shows waiting until spring to open, but now this has made me excited all over again.

If you like Dogfight, I think you'll like Evan Hansen.
