Selena Forever

Posted: 7/8/07 at 11:03pmI was just reading the article about the new upcoming musical about Celia Cruz and noticed they mentioned something in there about a musical called "Selena Forever." According to the article, it opened in Texas and shut down before it reached New York. I enjoy some of Selena's music and had images of making it into a musical (although I thought it shouldn't happen), so I was surprised when I read that there had been a musical about her. Does anyone have anymore details about this production? Did anyone see it? What went wrong?

I saw it. In Dallas. It is one of my faves on my profile. You can get more info and pics at the link. The show went wrong because of too much $ being spent on production. I was little when it came out but I still remember a little.

Posted: 7/8/07 at 11:42pmI forgot where I read this, USA Today perhaps?, but I remember reading that there was a Selena musical playing in Mexico City and that it was the most expensive show ever staged in Mexico, costing the equivalent of $1 Million dollars. I did not know they had tried it out in Texas though. Personally, I'm pretty cynical about anything with her name on it, thinking her dad is just using her name to make more money, gotta milk it while he still can.
