i joined the sh-k-boom batalion over a year ago and never recieved any info about promoting or anything. i did talk to someone during the whole "who wants adam to play at your college thing" and that never worked out either.

it seems rude to me that they've ignored us for a year and now they want our help.

I don't think it was a matter of being ignored, per se. Adam was on the other side of the country. It seemed like the Civilian publicity sort of got put on hold becaues of the movie -- right around the time that he was looking to do college shows and things, the movie deal came through. It just wasn't good timing.

as far as promoting, there were those hot postcard things that came with the the cds, those could be handed out on the street, on college campuses. i mean adam doesn't have to do a show to promote a cd, there are tons of other ways. play him on the college radio station, hold give-a-way contests, etc.

I guess. I just sort of assumed that if he was MIA, it would've been harder -- at the stage where he is now, being there in person is kind of important to expanding the fan base. Having him there in the flesh might be, at this point, the best way to gain interest. I know when I just randomly get a postcard, I rarely give it a second look.

I think that they're actually being smart to hold off until the movie comes out. They're a very small company, it's not like they can pour millions into promotion like the big boys. This way, any efforts made by volunteers will be magnified a hundredfold by the movie publicity.

I understand how you feel, zzannahk, but doing things this way makes sense.

the thing is college radio would play his solo stuff, but we wont play RENT on the air. RENT will become too mainstream once the movie hits and they will have missed an entire demographic of 18-24 year olds, with expendable incomes.

I don't know enough about college radio to quite understand, but it seems to me that a lot of college kids might see the movie and become interested in Adam. Are you saying that you don't think the movie will seem cool to them? (I'm so far from being a college student any more that I have no idea.)

i definately think the movie will turn off a lot of college kids. us geeks will go and love it. but there's two veiws on rosario, josie vs. sin city.

josie is too juvenile to attract them
vs. sin city, they know musical will not compare

we play a lot of rock, some mainstream, and more filky guitar stuff, still ani, dar, tori. etc so adam would fit in well

but a musical, every one knows seasons of love because from 1997/8 to the present, we all sang it in high school chorus, you cant get much uncooler than that

all i'm saying is that they haven't contacted the old "street team" battalion, whatever, so if they want people to promote, how about the people who already signed up to do so.
they have my info, i'm not going to sign up again

We will be getting in touch with the original Battalion memebers in the near future. Right now we are getting things organized and are just putting the word out for those who are not already signed up for the Battalion. Don't worry if things go according to plan there will be alot more use of the Battalion in the near future.

ahhhh....memories of handing out post cards at the Palace, good times, good times.

you should all do it, its fun and you get to meet new people!

as for me, sadly still in Michigan but if any out of town stuff comes up id be happy to hear about it as well. Maybe there are somethings us out of towners can do while visiting ah well see!

good luck, i miss the days of cheching the sh-k-battalion board everyday, do all you adam lovers still frequent the board or did everyone migrate here?

I used to read the old one a lot. Then the new one got overrun by some hyper-enthusiastic insanity and I gave up even attempting to converse.

There are quite a few fans here, anyway. We entertain ourselves.
