I haven't seen it, but I do have a discount code for $30 tickets. Enter LAGNIAPPE on the Public's website.

Curious if anyone has seen it. Has a Sunday night free and this was one of my options. But, have heard nothing about it.

I saw it this past Saturday. Previously thought cullud wattah was brilliant and this confirmed for me Erika Dickerson-Despenza is one of the most important and exciting young playwrights working today.

Her mixture of polemic with the personal is perfectly balanced and inspired. If you don't like talky two handers (which this mostly is) you probably won't like this. But imo after seeing the succession of these two plays in back to back seasons at the Public, anything she writes is well worth seeing.

Do you remember the run time? I booked tickets when it said 70min for a 1pm show to accommodate for seeing 'Parade' at 3pm, but now the site says 90 min. (I always knew this was a risk I promise!).

That is super tight since shows never start exactly on time and those theaters are not.... near each other at all.

I saw the 1st preview and it got out around 8:50 for a 7:00 curtain. I'm sure it's been tightened up since then, but unless they've made a lot of cuts, it's not even in the vicinity of 70 minutes.

Still, if you bolt out of the theatre and hop right on the RW, I don't think you'll have too much trouble getting to Parade in about 15-20 minutes.

Just got notified the 1pm show tomorrow has been cancelled due to tech malfunctions— guess that makes my time crunch a non-issue but i’m disappointed!

I really wanted to love shadow/land, but it just didn't land for me. I found the design elements impressive, but I struggled to understand the overall intention of the play. There's quite a lot that the dialogue aims to dissect, but the execution doesn't match its ambition. I didn't get to see Cullud Wattah unfortunately, though I would assume if you enjoyed that style, you'd appreciate shadow/land as well. Runtime was fine (ran as the advertised 90 minutes). That said, I'm still looking forward to seeing how the rest of Dickerson-Despenza's "10-play Hurricane Katrina cycle" develops.
