Liza memoir and promotion tour
 Mar 3 2026, 11:59:47 AM

I'm going to take it as a good sign that Premiere Collectibles is sold out of signed copies of Liza's book. If those copies were autopen, there would be no reason for them to ever sell out. You can always fire up the pen and "sign" more.

The AI audio clips/audiobook are extremely disappointing. It sounds like Liza, but it has none of the wit or delivery Liza would have. You hear a written joke, yet it's delivered flatly. She would not deliver those words

All Best Musical Winners Ranked by Number of Performances

This thread is fascinating. I was also interested to see how everything landed with revivals. I added up performances from all revivals, equalled a total, and indicated what place they would fall if revivals were included.

Cynthia Erivo's Dracula - Terrifying Pics!
 Feb 10 2026, 05:43:47 PM

If you want to tie all of those details together, it seems very likely opening night will have to be moved back. At that point, that means people bought tickets for a finished product that is unfinished. Are those people allowed to complain at that point? Who is the arbiter around which audience members are allowed to complain and at what point it becomes acceptable?

Happy to talk common sense - if you're the only person in a show, with no one on stage to pick up the

Opening night is 5 performances away. How many weeks are we supposed to give for her to stop struggling?

I find it insane how everyone who saw the show is saying variations of the same line "she was not ready to begin performances&

Lead Actress in a Musical 2026
 Feb 7 2026, 12:04:24 PM

In a year where there are few clear frontrunners, I think the Road Vote is going to be very important, especially if they vote in a unified block. I can't imagine they want 2 years of 2 person Best Musicals to hang their touring packages on, the current one with a set/physical production that doesn't even really fill up the Longacre. Imagine going to see Two Strangers in a 2500 seat house.

The musicals side will be about Ragtime v Cats. Ragtime is built for the road. Cats would

Broadway “opera house”
 Nov 10 2025, 04:52:58 PM

I do think an idea like this has merit. The challenges are just too great for it to ever be feasible. You would have to....

  • build a new house specifically for this purpose
  • convince unions you need a new type of contract that covers your purpose
  • create new licensing agreements with various estates. You wouldn't be able to build a production and only run it one season. You would need to have a rights agreement that covered 5-10 years.
  • build relationships t

Staatsoperette Dresden does a season of musicals and operettas. About 4 new productions each season along with 10 existing productions from their repertoire. The productions are pretty large and look terribly interesting. On the musical side this season they have Evita

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES Previews
 Oct 29 2025, 02:07:12 PM

Saw the show on Saturday after seeing it in Boston and thinking it had a lot of potential.

We can call it. Cheno phoned it in. She was darker, more scrappy, and sang it better in Boston. If she's not going to get out there and at least fight for the show with her performance, the show has no reason to exist. I never found it painful like I found Tammy Faye and Swept Away, but this is DOA.

As someone who went to see Jane and went on Sunday, I'd be interested to know when it was planned. There was no notice on telecharge, no

Ariana DeBose to lead THE BAKER'S WIFE at Classic Stage Company
 Oct 24 2025, 03:19:55 PM

Ariana DeBose is a phenomenal dancer. They actually added a dream ballet type thing to the second act so she could dance. That piece frankly could be longer.

The table seats seem like a normal added row. You're right up against the actors, but it's not an immersive experience type show, if that's what you're asking.

I was there last night.

It's very charming. They've thrown what looks like a lot of money into it. It's the most set I've seen at a CSC show. And 9 musicians in the pit is the most I've seen/heard over there. (I think Passion might have had 9?) They even had a couple of merch items.

The ensemble is incredibly strong. One of the problems with this piece is that it's called The Baker's Wife, but it's about the townspeople. The main character in the

This is not a thing. The Broadway houses are practically all historically landmarked. They cannot undergo any renovations without approval from the city, and they certainly would not receive ap

More Tours Coming to Broadway?

Not exactly. They are required to pay for either housing or offer a per diem...for the first 4 weeks of the 'tour stop'. They are not required to pay anything beyond that 4 week mark.

The pay bumps up to Level One for these NYC stops. It's about a hundred les

With AEA and 802 both currently negotiating and signaling to their members things are not going well, I would not be surprised if there is a strike this year.

The balcony has always been closed from the day tickets went on sale. There is zero momentum. The promo code they have out also does practically nothing. They seem stuck on wanting a $90 entrance barrier and.....well we see how that's going.

Metropolitan Opera's money crunch
 Sep 5 2025, 12:10:18 PM

The La Boheme is a cash cow for them. Yes it costs, but it sells. Yes, they do actually need to do it every season to financially survive.

The new operas do generally sell well in house. Unfortunately they do not sell in movie theaters when included on the Live in HD series, which is how those visually STUNNING productions of El Niño and Ainadamar went without a video recording. There are exceptions though, the Tesori Grounded was the least attended opera of last season. They re
