Shai LaBouef as Padre Pio??

I came across some info online about this film that was supposed to be released last year. It's truly unlikely casting but it intriques me. There is a trailer for the film and Shai did television interviews to promote it. There are also stories that he is converting to Catholicism as a result of his portraying a saint but that may just be hype.

Does anyone have further info about this film?

The movie screened at the 2022 Venice Film Festival but as far as I know hasn't been picked up for wide release by anyone. The reviews were on the mixed to negative side, so that along with the accusations of abuse against Shia are probably why it's been in limbo.
