Zoneface, you have NO IDEA what you are talking about.
In the time R&J was written, people aged much faster than they do now, and diseases and violence cut off lives very early. You would be very lucky to make the age of forty (which is probably what Friar Laurence is meant to be). Juliet's fourteen years would be about equivalent to twenty-five of ours or more. That was why people were so anxious to marry off their children at such an early age. People had no time just to be children (or teenagers). That is what the play is ABOUT.
