I had such a great time revisiting She Loves Me today at the Lab at ConnCORP, part of Long Wharf’s 60th anniversary season. It is such a well written musical with smart lyrics that you’ll be able to hear up close since the staging is so intimate. The space and experience reminded me of attending Classic Stage Co. with the actors very close and other audience members sitting across from you.
The set is done well to replicate an authentic parfumerie with rolling retail counters that hold all the glass bottles and tubes of face cream.
The five piece orchestra was outstanding. The ensemble was really excellent and everyone has a moment to shine. Real standouts for me were Raphael Nash Thompson (Mr. Maraczek) and Julius Thomas III (Georg Nowack).
I recommend this sweet show. So many great voices. Parking is easy and plentiful at the ConnCORP space.
