Well, Sierra Boggess becomes part of our world daily at the Lunt-Fontanne already! I've seen her a couple of times, and she has never failed to impress me.
Maybe at the end of the day!
Boggess is a dime a dozen. I could easily find 1,000 other singers in NYC who could do the same exact thing she does each night.

I would have to agree with Bobby. She isn't in the LEAST at all impressive to me.
I agree that Haviland Stillwell would make an amazing Ariel. That is the only way they'd get me to go see The Little Mermaid again. I did enjoy Sierra Boggess in the role though.
The only way??
Hell, I'd see it again if they got Condoleeza Rice!
While Hav can sing the **** out of the song... I think she could do better than Little Mermaid. She went on as Fantine today in Les Miz and she has a bright future.

I was actually expecting it to go to Annelise Van Der Pol, but this was also before they announced she was going into BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
Honestly, I agree, Sierra is a dime a dozen...and has saggy boobs.
It's DISNEY!
It's gotta be someone who will work for a dime a week.
Why do you think they picked that nobody anyway.
Good luck to her.
If Disney decided to do a live-action "Little Mermaid" film (they won't), Amy Adams would be beyond perfect.

I would say it's her shells that make her look saggy.

Well, I heard they may do a live-action ALICE IN WONDERLAND, so anything is possible. I would love a live-action CINDERELLA or BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
wow husk_charmer, I can't imagine how bitter someone would have to be to write that about someone they don't know on a public board. And I wouldn't be surprised if you are judging her without having seen the show.
I agree there are a lot of girls in NY that can belt. I was impressed with Sierra because of how well she acts her songs (especially "Beyond My Wildest Dreams"). Before I saw the show, I saw her on that website singing the Phantom stuff and I doubt there are many girls with legit top end that good who can also belt out the E flat in Mermaid 8 shows a week and can actually act.
I'm not lead on Broadway, but I have phenomenal respect for those actors who are because I know it's not "luck" that got them there. And I have to laugh (cause otherwise it's just sad) when people who supposedly love Broadway take threads like this that were initially positive and make them negative about someone else.
It takes knowledge and insight to post original comments that actually contribute to everyone's understanding of Broadway (I'm looking at you Margo), whereas there are a few negative posters who post the same tired opinion (it's not tired the first time, but come on...) over and over and over in every thread. I didn't care for YF and I posted a pretty lucid argument as to why in a single post. But why take the time to post my opinion multiple times in multiple threads? The reason it sucks that you do this is that it drags down the conversation of everyone (even those of us who want to celebrate the good) so that a thread about Haviland becomes a negative thread about Sierra.
I mean seriously, Sierra doesn't go down to Applebee's and criticize your job over and over (maybe just the one time you forgot to bring her Ranch dressing on the side).
BrianS, I would just like to say "Thank you!!".
I come around to the BroadwayWorld threads every once in a while and add my two cents and it really irks me when I read people saying the worst things about a person or performer. Even towards other users, the people on these boards aren't the friendliest bunch. Why does everything have to come down to "She sucks!!!" or "USE THE SEARCH!!!"? I mean, I thought IMDb was bad...
Anyway back onto the topic, I also don't understand how a person showing some respect to Haviland became a thread about how "bad" Sierra (who I, by the way, thought was perfect when I saw her two weeks ago). Say what you want about her, but she worked hard to get where she is now and she has definitely paid her dues.
There are so many talented performers out there (both in the spotlight and out) and everyone has their own personal taste and preference. That's what makes this industry (and world) such a fun place. Imagine if all the songs in a show or every actor sounded the same. How boring would that be?
Yeah, I can't believe how negative towards Sierra Boggess it sounds as though some people are. While the show may not have been my favorite (I thought it was cute but nothing I'm interested in seeing again) I thought she did a great job as Ariel.
Three for Condi!

They're all just bitter=-)
Go Sierra! I hope she gets a Tony nod!
Haviland has a good voice, but I didn't particularly care for that video.
