I'm not sure what to make of his apology being taken from Esquire, especially since he was the one who leaked it to Twitter.
And from the email to LaBeouf from the fight director, it sounds like some sort of confrontation came from LaBeouf, and not Baldwin.
"Sordelet, in an email dated Feb. 21, wrote, "Dear Shia, So sorry things went down like they did. It's a pity Broadway will not get to see your Treat. It was obvious you were going to turn in a fantastic performance. But you are a divinely guided young man and it will all become clear in a short time.… Christian and I are very impressed with your work ethic and respect for the craft. It must have been difficult for others in the room to be schooled by someone [whose] raw talent and enthusiasm out matched theirs. Good luck and love to you, Rick Sordelet."

From Shia's twit(ter):
"Ben Foster IS A BEAST. HE WILL KILL IT."
Whew! Everything is ok now. LaDouche approves!

Why is everyone so into name calling people they have never met? Even if you have...
This is certainly playing out much more dramatically than usually, probably because of LaBeouf and his twitter. For the most part, everyone actually seems pretty professional and compassionate with one another. And as Baldwin said in his email to him, how will he handle it? Seems with his thumbs up to Ben Foster, he's handling it pretty diplomatically.

I looked up some stuff and it all seems to stem from this film he made with Tom Hardy where Shia was drinking moonshine on set and became very aggressive, all stuff he cops to. It seems the boy is a little messed up but if you know about his past (as I assume you do as you know so much about him) there is some understandable stuff going on.
The sad thing is I would bet if Shia LaBeouf were more attractive this thread would be a lot less nasty.
Oh, look. Another theatre novice movie kid is taking over the role. And he's HOT! So yay, Ben Foster!!

I think Shia just didn't like Alec Baldwin as a person and didn't realize it until he spent a lot of time with him in rehearsals and faced doing all those shows together several times a week. It happens. Sometimes two big egos can't co-exist or Alec, who as done theater, just didn't have much patience for the kid. I'm sure Alec might be happy that Shia left and everything will be peachy.
Shia may not get another chance anytime soon to be on Broadway. Oh, well, no loss for Broadway or Shia, who will no doubt find more money working in movies, if he can manage to get along with people there.

Speaking for myself, I've only seen Foster in SFUnder, X-Men, Laramie Project and Freaks and Geeks, and I think he's a great actor, but speaking for myself I don't really find him any more or less attractive than LaBeouf.
