Posted: 11/18/04 at 2:40amI think what we are forgetting or ignoring is that Brooke may not be great to us, a theatre going population. But to the rest of the world, the ones who are coming to visit Manhattan for the holidays this is the greatest news since sliced bread. The cost to rerecord this score is not that extreme, so the producers are prob just trying to make the most of the situation. Will the new recording be in my collection, prob not. For a out of towner, seeing brooke is great. I hope they go see Brooke T over at Beauty and the Beast. There is some talent, and a voice that should be recorded!!!

Who cares? Don't buy it then.
What is super cool is this opportunity for Jennifer Hope Wills--who is not a star yet and is absolutely lovely.

#31Roz Russell will always be my Ruth
Posted: 11/18/04 at 10:08amI'm with MusicMan. The definitive Ruth -- funny, acerbic, endearing, sophisticated -- will always be Roz Russell. Donna hit better notes, and held them longer, but Ruth IS Roz. Anyone doubting, just listen to her reading of the lines about dipping back into Moby Dick. The timing, the voice timbre -- the character, all nailed. Sometimes perfect singing does not a performance make.

Posted: 11/18/04 at 10:14amI'm looking forward to the Brooke recording. Donna's a great singer, but the show was not written for a great singer. Her vocal gymnastics in Swing completely contradict the script. And I wasn't too keen on the weird accent and vocal style she chose for the character. It sounded phony and forced. I have a feeling I'll be happier with Brooke's recording.

WOW that makes me really happy!
This past Tuesday my friend wanted to go see her in the show.. I went along just to go see a show other then Hairspray or Beauty and the Beast, but going in I knew very little about the show and hadn't had any real want or need to see the show or Brooke. But I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed the show and I thought Brooke was FANTASTIC in the role!! She was sooo funny and just gave the show a real kick! I loved it and can't wait to get the CD with her on it! ::takes the other cast receding off Christmas list and waits patiently for this one::
