Let's all take a breath and a break and let the shilling calm down, it's not doing ANY of the shows, or SHOW any favors.
shill-(shl) Slang
n.
One who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe bystanders into participating in a swindle.

To quote a favorite movie:
'I'm shocked, SHOCKED to find out there is gambling going on in this establishment'
'Here are your winnings, sir'
'Thank you'

I assume this does not include my shilling for my shows.
As we all know, it's one of my greatest talents!

Posted: 9/15/04 at 10:37amI totally agree. Some people are using the word so people think they are 'cool' when they most-likely love Brooklyn or another 'shill' show.

that's right, b*tch!
sing it!!!
and I just need to know how someone can love Brooklyn already???
Yes...there's one poster on here who saw it in Denver (or claims to have...but I've no reason not to believe them). So really??? How can someone love a show they've never seen???
And if you do 'love' a show you've never seen, then it's everyone's right to disregard your opinion, because it's not based on anything tangible.

In truth, though, a number of the posts here are indeed done by people working for BKLYN. So, indeed, they are shills.
You can tell who are the shills and who are the (uninformed) fans.

technically speaking if they are paid specifically for shilling, they are a 'shill' Otherwise, they are a) an rabid fan or b) (if they work for the show) have a vested interest in its success but are not paid shills
...and hey, Robbie, what about the INFORMED fans (as opposed to the uninformed fans you mentioned)?

Posted: 9/15/04 at 11:28amnow, there aren't that many informed fans of the show, are there? meaning, people who have actually seen the show (ie. that one poster who saw it in Denver). How else can someone actually be an informed fan? From the clips on the website? From the Broadway on Broadway performance?

You know, it just doesn't work that way. To me, the most offensive part of the shilling is when I see people responding to their obviously manipulative posts as if they are genuine, when in fact the shills are just engaging with people because of their ulterior motive.
They will not just go away, 11, but, like cockroaches, they do scatter when you shine the light on them.
