I haven't seen her, but I was there on Sunday and made friends with some guy selling souvenirs in the lobby, anyway I was contemplating coming back next Wednesday to bring my little sister and he told me Menzel was gonna be out. He immediately followed that by saying he had heard Bean rehearsing and she sounded really good...I know its not what you're looking for but that's my 2 cents anyway!

Shoshana rocks, period. I don't know if they would REPLACE Idina with Shoshana, because she's still somehwat an underground talent. They'd probably get someone more established, as they did with Jennifer Laura Thompson and George Hearn. Although I think she's totally capable of doing it and would rock the house. I saw her go on for Marissa in Hairspray and she was just awesome.
And I would just like to point out that BOTH of the standbys for Wicked, Shoshana and Megan Hilty (for Glinda), are from Seattle. We are rocking the house on Broadway!
I'm going to see her this Wednesday. My friend is OBSESSED with her and asked me to come along to see the show with him. Everyone is raving about her, now I can't wait to see her myself.

my prediction -- she finds a place in defying gravity to put those high notes in.

I NEED to hear ger defying gravity and the wizard and i
Shoshified?
I shall pass my verdict on Wednesday. My friend is usually a very reliable source when it comes to 'the goodness' of performers and he LOVES Shoshana. I guess that's a good enough hint. My expectations will be high...

I saw Shoshana as Elphaba last night and she was amazing—definitely the best thing about the show, though Glinda grew on me. I saw her as Tracy in Hairspray, too, and preferred this. She was able to really let it rip with those huge sustained notes, and the audience was going nuts. People around me had been really mad that they were seeing a stand-in, and I just told them to cool their heels until her first song. I was there with family who know her mom from portland, and we went to her dressing room afterwards to say hi. There was a huge crowd, including the girl who played Penny in Hairspray (I don't remember her name). She was sitting in front of us the whole time, freaking out about how well Shoshana was doing, but I only made the Hairspray connection when I saw her backstage.
