On the Board, I have seen the classic 1927 Kern/Hammerstein musical referred to in two different ways:
Two words -- SHOW BOAT
and
One word -- SHOWBOAT.
If I may, the correct verbiage for the title is the TWO WORD spelling.
The Rodgers & Hammerstein offical website refers to production as SHOW BOAT.
The opening night reviews of the 1927 production spelled it using two words--as have all subsequent productions including the three movie versions.
A minor point perhaps, but one that I thought was worth noting.

Which reminds me of a story...
Many years ago I was involved in a production of that show. For opening night, the leading lady had ordered little silver medallions with the title of the show engraved on them, to give out as gifts to the cast.
Well, the jeweler screwed up royally, and it was too late to redo it, so everyone got a souvenir medallion that said:
"BOAT SHOW"
(Needless to say, she didn't have to pay the jeweler!)
That's GOLD, Jon!
