I can think of four show tunes used as tv commercials off the top of my head. Can you help me think of any others? Thanks.
Here are the four I recall:
CAN DO from Guys and Dolls was used by Gold Medal Flour "With Gold Medal You Can do"
Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was used for ACCENT flavor enhancer. "Accent is a girl's/cook's best friend."
You've Got to Be Carefully Taught from South Pacific as a kind of anti-discrimination commercial. I don't recall the actual "sponsor" in this commmercial case.
Very recently, Wouldn't It Be Loverly from My Fair Lady was used in a commercial. I don't recall whether it was for a motel chain or a car rental company, but the commercial ran not very long ago.
I am sure there are other show tunes used as tv commercials. Please help me remember some. Thanks!

I remember there used to be a Tide commercial that used "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" (I think that's the name...)
ALso, nonmusical kinda, but the Clariton allergy pills used to use the overture to The Who's Tommy.
oh thanks Fabala, that "Anything You can Do" Commercial ran very recently too........thanks for reminding me:)

Also, "Anything You Can..." was used in a series of Gatorade spots with Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm a while back as well.

How about:
The stuffing commercial from the late 80's or early 90's:
SOMETHING DELICIOUS, SOMETHING NUTRITIOUS
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE - IT'S STOVETOP TONIGHT!
or the beer commercial in the 60's:
THERE IS A BROTHERHOOD... OF HAMMS
or the public service ad from the 70's promoting seat belt use:
BUCKLE UP FOR SAFETY, BUCKLE UP
based on "Buckle Down Winsocki" from GOOD NEWS

A few years ago there was a commercial for HIP that had "On the Street Where You Live"
For a long time the Windex jingle was "Put On A Windex Shine" to Bye Bye Birdee's "Put On A Happy Face."
I am hearing a lot of Rodger and Hammerstein's music in commercials, just not remembering what product they are endorsing. I always think: "More royalties to The R&H Foundation."
isnt that "Goodmornin" playing in the background of the one commercial with them mail man walking in the rain and different weathers. Sorry dont remeber the commercial is for.

Light My Candle from "Rent" for Yankee Candle Co.

"I feel pretty" is used in a recent commercial. I can't remember the product right off hand.

ebay used songs such as:
On Broadway by George Benson (not exactly a showtune)
That's on ebay- a cliche on "that's amore"
and "do you know the way to use ebay" and I'm not sure what it's a parody on, but it's a B'way song too

I believe that the "Do you know the way to use eBay?" was a take on "Do You Know The Way to Santa Fe?" (an actual song, not just the bit at the end of "Santa Fe" in Rent)
"I Feel Pretty" was used in the Aquafina commercial.

I Feel Pretty was used in an Aquafina commercial. In the other commercial there's like all these guys singing "Drink, drink!" and that's from some show too. I can't remember which one tho.

I think that "One" was used in an orange juice commercial once.

"Whatever Lola Wants" is used a LOT in commercials. I distinctly remember a jeans commercial that used it.

West Side Story's "Somewhere" is being used in ads for some financial services company. Or is it an insurance company? I don't get those ads at all.
Do You Know The Way To Santa Fe. A great old song by Dianne Warlock. I love that one.
Is that the same song as "Do you know the way to the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe?"
No, I think that one is Junie Garlic.
