That I do! Mary Mary, quite contrary. how does your garden grow?
With Hedwig trails and Bowie ticket sales, and strange avatars all in a row.
I love you. Next weekend will rock.

I agree, Mr. Trask should absolutely write more for the theatre. It amazes me that some of the younger fans of Hedwig know nothing about Patti Smith....I think the primary influence for the music in HEDWIG.
Patti Smith's EASTER...listen to "Rock and Roll N*****"

Posted: 11/15/04 at 6:08pm"The Origin of Love" is on permanent rotation on my playlist. It blows my mind that John Cameron Mitchell was the original Dickon in The Secret Garden....because "Winter's on the wing" is on my playlist too, and only recently did I figure out they were the same guy! Amazing!

I think the problem is not that the movie is bad, the problem is that the stage show is sooo amazing.

I am in compleate love with "Origin of Love" in fact my brother and i want to cover that song in our band, i love it so much. I wish people around my area had the freaking guts to do that show.

Margo,
Did you get a chance to see Hedwig at the Westbeth (about a year before the Jane Street production)? That's where I first encountered the show (friend was company manager). I couldn't get over what I was watching (and the fact that I was sitting very close to Larry Kramer). I brought friends back the next week who all couldn't get over it.
At the time, the show was set at the TGI Friday's across from Madison Square Garden. There were also some more overt Jew/German tensions between Itzak and Hedwig which I found uncomfortable...in a wonderful way. But the hilight was a remarkable version of YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE sung completely in German. Although I loved the Jane Street version, I felt that the Westbeth version was just a bit more dangerous and fun.

They definitly cut back on the german/jewish tensions... i have tried to add them back in a bit when I do the show. I really need to contact John and get a copy of that script!

I love Hedwig! I heard from an actor who played Hedwig in Syracuse and Rochester (Aaron Berk) that they're thinking of doing it in the Knitting Factory in NYC.
I LOVE HEDWIG!!!
