Yeah, why didn't they do it in London? They would eat up that crap.
Actually, no they wouldn't have eaten it up. There have been loads of 1980s type mega-musical flops in the West End over the last fifteen years.
And there have been plenty of second attempts at failed Broadway musicals that also were to then fail in London: Mack and Mabel, 70 Girls 70 and The Baker's Wife immediately spring to mind.
So I doubt that there are any shows that could have succeeded if they'd opened in the West End.

The Pirate Queen?
No
The Pirate Queen would probably have closed in London quicker than it did on Broadway.
I think that the Pirate Queen would have had a longer run over there as well.
And I honestly believe that 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' would have been atleast a "hit" over there, as well as Frank's project that was going to debut over there: 'Cyrano de Bergerac,' but I don't really know about the latter. Isn't Pimpernel a more well-known book over there? I mean so was Woman in White (did that flop in London) and only last 2ish years, but still something!

I think Caroline or Change could have been bigger they could have brought it to Broadway as the Oliver winning musical and it would of been a bit after so they might have had a better chance at the tonys.
