I never walked out of a show. I would feel to guilty after spending so much on tickets. I considered walking out of Sweet Smell of Succuss and a show at The Fringe last year. I forget the name of it now but it was about a boy band. It was like a bad SNL skit that went on and on and on and on....

Shows 1 & 4 were on half price
Show # 3 I believe was a comp

I did not lose that much

and considered walking out, but stupidly stayed,

We Will Rock You, despite being hands down the worst show I've seen this year, made me stay because I was curious as to whether it could get any stupider (it did have good singing though) plus I'd made a special trip to see it.

I've never walked out on a show, but I felt a bit like walking out the second time I saw Lion King. It's hard sitting through that show twice! I thought I might like it better, but no such luck. Ah well.

I have never walked out of a Broadway show...too much money. Although I felt like walking out of Hairspray the moment MJW (TWAITW) opened her mouth. It was a struggle to come back after intermission but I did.

Roxy....

Being a social worker even half price tix are too much for me to walk out on. And sadly I paid full price for Sweet Smell. Although I think I would have walked out of the Fringe Fest show...but for some reason my friend wanted to stay.

I almost walked out on the Lion King. I saw it two weeks ago and spent the entire time looking at my watch. I am happy I only sprung for the cheap seats just to see what all the hoopla was about.

Everyone makes their own decision.

I guess I understand your argument but my feeling is why suffer something that is bad . To each his own . If staying works for you, great

Well, I thought I'd never walk out on a show (as my seat cost so much, and that it is rude to do that to the performers) however, I DID walk out very confidently during The Music Man tour this past October. This was a TERRIBLE production. The leads and even ensemble were simply less than inspired. I never believed all the banter about the non equity tour being a mess, but I tell you, this was VERY dissapointing! They were completely phoning in the performance.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the current Music Man tour..??

As long as you do not make it blatantly obvious ( I only walk out @ intermission), I see no problem. You paid your money so you have the right. What is ruder is people who come up to a 1/2 hour or more late. Not only do you bother the performers but other audience members who arrive on time only to have some clod & his entourage climb all over you to get to their seats ( which are almost always in the middle of a row )

Lets not even get into those who talk incessantly during a show

I couldn't agree with you more! Believe me, there were MANY people crawling over the people in the rows in front and behind me! Very irritating! And I also make it policy to walk out of a show only at intermission (very discreetly).

I've never walked out of a professional show. Being a poor college student means that once I pay 50-100$ to see a show, I'm there through the whole thing, for better or for worse. I have walked out of several community theater productions(Guys and Dolls and Gigi come to mind) that I felt were not worth my time. But only during intermission of course.

Doing a search on this topic, here is my response back in July. I don't think I've walked out on anything since this posting. The original posting was 6/25, and was indeed by Mr. Roxy. Many of us ask this question over the months. Sometimes it's helpful to use the "search" button and add to an existing post.

Now this is a topic that elicited opinions. Thanks to all for your views, they certainly vary.

Some of the recent walkouts of mine have included:
LES MIZ(yes I have the CD, No, I hated the production) URINETOWN (No, I don't have the CD)
Some I would have left if I coud:
RENT
HAIRSPRAY

Everyone has their own opinion about the value of specific musicals...You know the lyric, "what ever happened to class?" LOL

MM: What about The Little Prince? Music by John Barry with that musical comedy legend, Michael York. (And Ellen Greene, wasted.)

Majorly tempted: A Doll's Life. (That potent combo of Ibsen and Comden and Green, with a Hal Prince bridge over the whole shebang.)

Speaking of The Human Comedy, I bought the double CD

Try listening to the entire score as there are no tracks on it . Allegedly, the music is supposed to be good. Must get around to listening to it all one aday

Am I curious. To those of you who walk out of performances then allow yourselves to then discuss the show afterwards? I mean, there are plenty of shows I do not like, but if I were to not even see the whole performance, I don't think I would ever be able to hold anything against the show, because I didn't see the whole thing. I've seen plenty of shows that have done a good job of redeeming the weaknesses of the first act. I don't think I'd ever walk out, even if it was horrible. Besides, there is no way to fairly criticize or review a show you have not fully seen.
