Hilty do something other than Wicked, thereby proving she actually can act? Wow. A combination of a smart AND dumb move for her, if it pans out.
Smart? Distance herself from Glinda if she wants to be taken seriously as an actor. She's got a above average voice, but can she act?
Dumb? If I were her, I'd stay in Wicked until I'm old enough to be Morrible, or if a guaranteed smash comes along....considering the very slight off-Broadway market....and even smaller market for a show with 3 women nobody's ever heard of, VANITIES could not be commercially successful.
....a non-profit would have to pick it up for the show to actually get noticed.

According to Roundabout's site, Les Liasons Dangereuses may be revived along with Sunday in the Park with George.

DANGEROUS LIASIONS will be revived next year.
As per one of the creative staff, Roundabout might also be taking on a review of Cy Coleman music to open at the American Airlines theatre.
And Roundabout will ALSO be doing a play with Laura Linney. I suspect it's OLD TIMES by Pinter, but I don't know what the play is yet.
Regardless, we'll have Linney on Bway next year. I've also heard that Alan Rickman will star in LIASIONS.

Yankee, even though I (obviously) think Megan's a good performer, I agree that Vanities might be a mistake... I mean, if she wants to make money, she should not leave Wicked. The producers clearly love her - she could be in that show forever. As far as Vanities goes, I have a problem with the lyrics, which are horribly simplistic in places. I saw the show in Palo Alto and a few months later, at the NAMT festival. While there were some much-needed subtractions from the book, the thing needs work, no question.
MH does have a good voice, though, and her acting is a lot better than a good deal of what I've seen on Broadway (granted many musicals value vocals more than acting). She has a definite shot at developing a reputation as a "serious" actor if she breaks away from Wicked. I guess it's a question of priorities.

Cry Baby is still happening at the La Jolla Playhouse later this year. Also Catch Me If You Can was rumoured to be doing out of town tryouts at the Old Globe in San Diego. But I suspect that Marc has put that on hold for the past year (and up until June) until the Hairspray film is finished but only he can speak to that.

Zhivago?
A Tale of Two Cities?
Asking more than anything...
I really hope A Tale of Two Cities makes it, I really enjoyed the recording I listened to!

I wish they would just do one of his good but unknown/underpreformed shows instead. He's got plenty to pick from.
And regaurding Catch Me If You Can, Shaiman posted this in January . . .
"Hey, it ain't just me and Scott who are crazy busy (with the HAIRSPRAY movie). Jack O'Brien's got The Tom Stoppard Trilogy and then some big ol' opera, Jerry Mitchell is guiding in Legally Blond, Terrence McNally has Deuce (with Angela Lansbury & Marian Seldes!) & Some Men...not to mention coordinating schedules with Steven Spielberg! These gentlemen have quite a lot going on too!
We are doing a workshop in July, and no, no cast is set yet.
I personally pray we will get it on Broadway next season and I sure do hope you all will like it.... screw that, I KNOW you all will LOVE IT!!
MS"
Well, this is what's definite:
GREASE
THE LITTLE MERMAID
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
DANGEROUS LIASIONS
SOUTH PACIFIC
XANADU
Possible:
BILLY ELLIOT
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF
I thought Billy Elliot was a definite? Don't they already have the Imperial after Coram Boy leaves?
Really? Wow, that's cool. I'll see that.
