Leslie Kritzer told me very recently that Vanities is going to open next season. Megan Hilty said it will almost certainly be Off-Broadway. Updated On: 4/11/07 at 07:10 PM
hiltyfied, are you sure she said on Broadway? Megan Hilty and Sarah Stiles (as well as the creative team) have been alluding to it going Off-Broadway in the spring of next year.
Scary, but almost every new musical entry was followed by "New musical based on the film of the same name."
this made me think of a question that has been bugging me for a while. Is the Cry-baby musical still a no go? I saw some little interview with John Waters in entertainment weekly not too long ago saying that he was prepping the show for broadway, so I was wondering if anybody has heard any new news?
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuHilty, is that the new musical version, or a revival of the play?

A revival of Harold Pinter's The Homecoming with Ian McShane, I believe.
I think Cry-Baby will play at La Jolla later this year.
There have been rumors of a Dreamgirls revival. I'm not sure about 2008, though.
Did I hear correctly that they were attempting Shrek?? Sounds like disaster to me...how's that gonna work?
Yeah i think Shrek is slotted to open in 2008... yeeahh, still don't really "get" this one, but whatever.
Good to hear that Cry-baby might still happen.

But would Megan Hilty do Vanities if it goes off-Broadway or Broadway? Isn't the musical adaption of Nine to Five supposed to debut either in the fall 2007 or spring 2008, or am i way off?

Somethingwicked that's a good question. I heard Off-Broadway and that definitely seems like the appropriate place for the play. Leslie Kritzer did say Broadway, but she probably meant Off.
Tazber, it's a revival. Megan Hilty, Leslie Kritzer, and Sarah Stiles starred in its production in Palo Alto.
I don't know what the deal with Nine to Five is, but I've heard that the article exaggerated Megan's role. She was definitely asked to do a reading of it, but nothing more.
Cry-Baby recently had auditions, or an open call rather, so I'm assuming it's still a go. Vanities has such a great score and all three ladies were marvelous in the show; I'd definitley love to see this off-Broadway, it's way too small for a Broadway house. Then again, look what happened to Spring Awakening...ya never know.

Yeah I agree. I think the power of the play would be totally lost in a big theatre. Does anybody know anything about Jerry Christmas?
When was this open call? Man, why do I always miss these things?

TELSEY + COMPANY was having a(n) general open call in San Francisco for: Wicked, Cry Baby, The Color Purple, Tarzan, and Hairspray.
MAn I hope they have a open call in NY...
Yeah, I'm sure that there will be a dreamgirls revival in the near future.
