A Little Night Music(should come with soon revival)
Follies
A Chorus Line(should come with soon revival)

There are countless Joseph recording, so why not more recordings of these other shows.

And what other shows need more recordings?

I Wish... Madeline Kahn could have played the Witch in Into the Woods. She would have rocked!

What do you mean by needing another recording? Do you mean because the originals are inadequate? Or do you just mean for another interpretation?

Becuase I think that some of the ones you listed are actually near perfection.

I love all the recordings of the shows I listted, but as each show has seen hundreds of casts...
why then only listen to one

I have a handful of recordings of Nine, West Side Story, Evita, and Chicago. I love EACH RECORDING for the different interpritaitions brought to score by various performers, conducters, directors, etc...

Thats why I say these shows need another recording.

Ah, I see what you mean.

However, my problem is that if I hear or see a performance that I think is incredible I become very opinionated and negative towards others.

Like Chicago for instance: After hearing Chita and Gwen, I can't listen to anyone else. Even though I'm a huge Ruthie Henshall fan, I can't listen to her versions of the songs.

As much as I dislike the show, having another English cast recording of RENT not done by the original cast (or most of them anyway) would be good. I am all for shows in German, Icelandic and Hebrew, but I am always interested in giving shows a second interpretation in a language I can at least understand and maybe have my opinion swayed.

Sunday in the Park with George will be happening very soon. The recent Menier Chocolate Factory London revival has been recorded for a release in May, I think.

As much as I enjoy the OBCR of BatB, a new one with Ashley Brown would be awesome, plus we'd finally get "A Change In Me."

I'm kind of a sweat pant, t-shirt, no make-up type of girl. So once a year, I can get spiffy. Sutton Foster :)

You can find "A change in me" sung by Ashley on "On the Record".

There are 3 recordings for The Secret Garden which are all readily available (although two maye be a bit pricey since they are from overseas). The Original Broadway Cast Recording and the recent London Cast Recording are definitely two very different interpretations, with the London CD having new orchestrations and some new lyrics. The 3rd recording is the Australian Highlights CD with Anthony Warlow, Marina Pryor, and Phillip Quast (who plays Archie on the London recording)--albeit this is not the FULL show, just highlights...but it is still a great recording. I own all three.

-Finian's rainbow (as above)
-The Mistery of Edwin Drood
-High Spirits
-The last 5 years (a new studio cast with varius performers)
-Dance Of The Vampires (in English)

I'd love to hear another female tackle On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and The Apple Tree. I adore Barbara Harris but it'd be great to hear another interpretation. Someone other than Kristin C, too.

I don't see a glaring need for a new A Little Night Music (not that I wouldn't buy it if it WAS produced) since I already have three recordings of it.

As much as I LOVE Pippin, a new CD of it with ALL the music would be great.

Is it worth it to buy On the Record just for one song though? Are there other worthwhile qualites of that recording?

I actually liked Disney's On The Record...
I got to see the show live and though it didn't work as a traditional musical...some of the re-interpretations of Classic Disney music perfromed by a vocally blessed octet were incredible...I especially loved the reditions of 'He's a Tramp', 'How can we go on', 'Change in me' and the 'Silly Song Medley'...I'd recommend it if you're a Disney fan with an open mind....And...how could I forget 'Be Our Guest' sung in English, French, German, Dutch & Japanese....

I would love another Hairspray recording with either Carly Jibson or Kathy Brier as Tracy, and any one of the other wonderful actresses who have played Penny (this is nothing against Kerry Butler).

ALLEGO needs a new and complete recording: RCA Victor's 78 RPM album was limited to 5 records and records less tna half of the score.

But... I can't go along with more recordings of GYPSY (6 versions currently available on CD); ALNM (3 in print plus the Judi Dench which though hard to find does exist, and the film ST on LP); Hello, Dolly! (we already have 2 versions with Channing, the Pearl Bailey cast, and the film ST with Streisand); Chicago (Broadway, Broadway revival; London cast; Australian cast and Film ST).

When Cd's were new several albels re-recorded classic scores (WEST SIDE STORY, SOUTH PACIFIC, SHOW BOAT, ANYTHING GOES, CAROUSEL, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, BRIGADOON, KISS ME KATE) but while initial sales were stong they quickly faded. If the labels have $ to contribute t show recordings (and frm all reports they DON'T) I would rather see titles added to the catalogue that have never previously been recorded.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
