"I can see the Producers being revived but not Avenue Q or Rent - the messages are current and people 30 years from now may not be able to relate to them."
Yeah, kinda like Shakespeare-- his stuff is all dated!
Once Upon A Mattress.
JoeKv, I completely agree with you, about HAIR especially. It is SO effective when staged as a commentary on current events.

I took the thread to mean shows that will never be revived on BROADWAY, not other places. I know Hair has been done all over the place, and have seen a couple recent productions of it, but I just don't see a major Broadway revival happening. As far as RENT goes, once it closes (which I don't believe will be anytime too soon) I'm sure it will be a popular show for regional theatres, community theatres (oh god) etc., but I don't see it ever returning to Broadway once it leaves. It will probably get the occasional concert performance, benefit performance, etc, but as far as a major revival is concerned, I just don't see it happening. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a revival of Hair, and I would love RENT to make a comeback after it closes (once again, hopefully no time soon) but I just don't see either of these shows getting a Broadway revival.

Once Upon A Mattress has already been revived once and will no doubt be again.
If a show is successful, people will revive it. Why would a show be successful in other venues but never make it back to Broadway?
I think I'm pretty safe in saying MAIL.
any jukebox musical because in 30 years do you think anyone will no about abba and frankie vallie
do you guys think carrie will ever be revived. I think it will be...but maybe as a roundabout production.

Producers will only be revived if Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane come to do it.
MOOSE MURDERS
THOU SHALT NOT
I dunno, Rathnait. After Frank Rich's review for MOOSE MURDERS, I think it's inevitable to say that the piece was one theatregoers today would kill to see. I know I'd pay money to see that.
In addition:
The Baker's Wife. Try as they might they will never get this show right. Even the "improved" Trevor Nunn version wasn't terribly good.
sad but true, THE WEDDING SINGER. and i dont think it should be, i dont think it could ever be as good without the OBC, even with the tour, i think im gonna be disappointed
Regarding "Moose Murders," an actress I worked with told me that she was supposed to be in a production of "Night of the Iguana" that a Southern college was going to be doing. The college got a new president and he cancelled the production of "Iguana" as being too "controversial". The director, insensed at this, decided to put on the worst show ever written. He got the rights to "Moose Murders," they put it on and it was one of the biggest hits that they ever had!
But should it ever get revived on Broadway, no.
