The out-of-town tryout of SMOKY JOE'S CAFE was originally announced with some long, god-awful title like "Doctor Jackson's All-Star Jive-Ass Rock and Roll Show". By the time it opened in Chicago, it was titled BABY, THAT'S ROCK AND ROLL. Then Jery Zaks came in as the new director and came up with the final title.
