TRIUMPH OF LOVE. It was a goofy show, but with that cast it deserved better than a two month run.

Wish I got to see Young Frankenstein, Title of Show & Fame (had tickets but it closed) Also it was a shame that Ragtime closed so soon.

Taboo
Big Deal
Chess (OBC)
More as I think of them...
9 to 5
Shrek
The Little Mermaid... I only say The Little Mermaid because it could have had a very successful run if the show had been done better.
Beauty and the Beast... Yes it ran for a long time, but I think it should have been around longer.
Xanadu, I remember being very shocked when it announced closing.
Definitely Beauty and the Beast, especially since it was still doing good business.

I agree with those who said Chess, [title of show], and Taboo. I also think Jelly's Last Jam and Titanic should have gad longer runs.
-Thoroughly Modern Millie, because it became one of my favorites years after closing and I want to see it.
-I absolutely adored 9 to 5, I think it just fell victim to the large theatre and a highly competitive summer. during its time, over 10 shows were grossing over one million a week. i bet it would've done much better this summer, but ohhh well that's showbiz!
-Legally Blonde was such a cute show. i was so sad it closed. but i didnt like bailey hanks as elle at all.
There's also a plethora of shows that closed due to 9/11, so one could say those closed prematurely.
A lot of these sound like the fans of the show not being thrilled with the length of the run...
A show closing prematurely would be do to reasons out of control of the show. Such as 9/11, the economy crash, theatre owners, etc. I suppose one could take it the fan route too, but I'd hardly think there's any show that someone thinks closed prematurely unless it became Broadway's Longest running.
Another long run, but Jekyll & HYDE also closed prematurely... the producers shut it down when they couldn't get a celebrity name to replace David Hasselhoff, who had even been a bit of a failure ticket-wise.
Xanadu was certainly one due to the economy crash, and I suppose Legally Blonde could go in that route too, but I don't remember them doing any smash business at the time!

Next Fall and Enron. Two of the best shows I saw this past season.

At least one of those, Rocky Horror, reopened, though I don't believe it ran for a terribly long time after that.

Shrek the Musical
"I guarantee you Disney now regrets closing Beauty and the Beast in favor of the financial and artistic disaster that was The Little Mermaid."
How could I forget that? "Beauty and the Beast" should never have closed. Thomas Shumacher was such an idiot for doing that.
