If anyone used to listen to this channel in their digital cable line-up, be advised that MusicChoice has seen fit to butcher it (as of April 15). What they've done is changed the title to "Stage and Screen" and instead of strictly showtunes, they now feature instrumentals from movie scores and popular songs that happen to have been featured in movies -- both in large blocks. The only blocks of actual showtunes occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday (normal working hours for a majority of people) and 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays (all Eastern times).
I don't know about all of you, but I couldn't give a rat's ass about popular songs from movie soundtracks and boring scores. In my opinion they've totally wrecked the channel. I've already made my displeasure known to MusicChoice via email. Since I don't live in New York, I would always rely on the Showtunes channel to hear new (and familiar) Broadway music.
I realize that most of you are probably not as po'd about this as I am, but for those who are, please email MusicChoice and tell them so. Maybe they'll see the error of their ways?

I actually think it's a cool idea.
so, listen to that channel from 8 to 4, and then just go to an internet radio program for the other hours if you NEED a showtune fix.
My personal fave can be found on ACCUTUNES.com. they have 33 individual broadway channels where you can specify your taste to what you would like to listen to.
in this age of technology, there's more than one way get a showtune fix.
there's also
playbill radio
bww radio
Pandora radio
Satellite radio.
take your pick.

Sure -- It's www.musicchoice.com/channelchange. You can send a feedback email from there.
Pippin -- I'd love to listen to it from 8 to 4 -- unfortunately I'm at work during that time. Thanks for the other sources, though.

Posted: 4/20/09 at 6:46pmI used to listen to it all the time. I was very upset by the change. I didn't even realize there was a schedule. I stopped listening to it as the "stage" part of stage & screen seemed to be non-existent.

Posted: 4/20/09 at 7:25pmAt first I didn't expect it to be a problem, but after one dreary hour when I had to hear a lot of crap from the "Armageddon" soundrack and such fare I got off the station. It's fairly ridiculous to think that people who want to hear Aerosmith will be happy to have Kristin Chenoweth singing "Popular" interspersed. It's a ludicrous decision, in no way audience-savvy or respectful of those of us who pay too much for cable.

Posted: 4/20/09 at 9:58pmI just happened to notice this on my digital music channels the other day, and was really disappointed. Living in Missouri, I also listened to this channel to hear a lot of the current tunes from the Broadway stage. It was one of the reasons I hated thinking of having to give up cable, which is a possibility for me. Now it does not matter as much, for I do not like the soundtrack music from films. Now I listen to the on-line stations like Playbill Radio and Accu-radio, where I can satisfy my craving for an occasional Broadway tune. I am glad I am not the only one disturbed by this new development.
