re: Shrek Musical Announces Creative Team, '08 Debut Potential

This is so funny, I was just thinking about the idea of Shrek: the Musical last night for some odd reason. I remember hearing it on TRL that they were going to make this. I think with the right people behind it, the show could be on par with Disney (at least). Although, with all these new shows coming up, what theatres will they go into? It might be a good idea to build some new theatres.

Also, for some strange reason, I can pictures Brain D'Arcy James as Shrek (maybe its the eyebrows? no offense of course) and Norbert Leo Butz as Lord Farquad.

Oh God. I think it's a great animated movie, but please. It's like a sign of the apocalypse.

Also, for some strange reason, I can pictures Brain D'Arcy James as Shrek (maybe its the eyebrows? no offense of course) and Norbert Leo Butz as Lord Farquad.

I could see that too, But it's kind of weird because I can see them in the reversed roles, too.
One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

Hahaha, that's funny though. I would still rather not see this show actually happen. Shrek was a great movie, then they ruined it with a sequel. Can't we just leave it alone?

Who would play you in the movie? "Taye Diggs." --Brian d'Arcy James

music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire

It could be worse, but its still like Rick Rubin producing kFed, good jelly on bad bread.
I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

It sounds like a good show that can get kids interested in theatre.

I personally want to see how they're gonna have Fiona change from human to ogre and everything.

I hope they're not scary looking so I don't have nightmares.

As much as I wince at the idea of this musical, at least it has a nice creative team. Again, could beworse: Michael Bay could have decided to make this his theatrical directing debut.
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.

I thought last year it was announced that Yazbek had beaten out Lippa for the opportunity to write the score. Am I hallucinating? I suppose it's possible, but I know that Lippa wanted to do it, and lost out (He had posted a song that he had written for Donkey on his website at one point).

Why do people think this is a bad idea? Shrek is basically a parody of Disney style product, and a sendup of musicals like Beauty And The Beast and Tarzan seems like a funny idea to me.
Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.

This is such a bad joke.
I'm really excited for Disney's Kim Possible musical to come out,but what brave soul would like to play her? How about Idina Menzel as Kim and Harvey Fierstein as Ron re: Shrek Musical Announces Creative Team, '08 Debut Potential.Anyone else care to add to this incredible list? You know you want to...

2008?
gee i wish I had a couple of years to work on a project.
What do these people do during all that time?
I understand a project takes time but really...
Write it, get it up and see if it flies.
How long did it take to develop that mess known as TARZAN?

I don;t think it works for bway...Universal Studios is a good bet. Like Disnety doing with Nemo at the Animal Kingdom. It will not translate the same way that Lion King did.
