i think it is absolutly worth seeing
although its got differing reviews it is alot of fun and has a nice score that fits it
and by "it" i mean shrek
dont expect more or less than wat shrek already is
but id def go!
as for the cast, you never know when someone will be out on a 2 show day
Shrek. It may not be deep or brilliant but it is an entertaining night out filled with first class talent.

Nope, its still a bore, terribly written, poorly scored and nothing but technical flash.

Yes, we get it. You think it is a boring mess. You've made your point. Next.
A lot of people seem to feel the score is unmemorable. I think it might help to buy the cast recording before you choose whether to see it or not, now that the OBC is out! The songs are the type that just flit in one ear and out the other when you hear them the first time, but they are actually very catchy.

It's fun and has an amazing cast. The music is catchy. You can get VERY cheap tickets. Go. Do it. You'll be glad that you did.
I just saw the show on sunday and I thought it was great. The voices in this show were amazing. I took my 10 year old brother with me and he wasn't really a big fan of the Shrek movies but he absolutely loved the musical. Its no Hamlet lol but its a whole lot of fun!
I will admit, the first time I saw it I was VERY skeptic about the whole thing. Hell, I was skeptic when they announced that they were going to turn it into a musical in the first place. However, I saw it during previews and I walked away VERY VERY happy and had an amazing time at the theatre. I knew that it was previews and I knew that there were things that were going to be changed. However, if what I saw was the show in its frozen state then I wouldn't have been upset on bit with what I saw.
I went back after opening night and I did see the changes that they had made between my visit to the show during previews and after it had opened. Let me just say that it blew me away and then some.
Yes, Shrek isn't fine art and yes, the show is in the same vain as the movies. But, I loved the movies and I loved the style of humor that they had in them so I think that was one of the reasons why I loved the show.
I also think that there are so many people who are turned off by Shrek because of the bodily function contest that happens during I Think I Got You Beat. I honestly feel that that fits in well with Shrek and that everyone that I saw in the audience was laughing during that scene very hard. I think that when it comes to that scene people are expecting way too much. I think that they have to realize that something like that isn't out of the norm for something like Shrek. There were even farts and burps in the movie. But, somehow, it becomes taboo for Shrek, to do the same thing in its Broadway musical format.

More than you, kiddo.
But still not that much.
trust me: when I heard Shrek was going to be a musical, I thought I was going to punch my comp screen out. But, I have had the amazing songs stuck in my head for months, and I would not rather see anything more than Shrek. If you don't go for the story, go for the actors. You won't see that many talented and famous actors and actresses together for a while.
