Shrek the Musical Tour Review

I saw the show with my friends last night and it was TERRIFIC! This was the funniest musical I've ever seen and David Lindsay-Abaire did an outstanding job with the book. The sets and costumes were very impressive and I enjoyed the songs as well.

The cast:

ERIC PETERSEN: I enjoyed his performance as Shrek. I thought he was funny, especially in "I Think I Got You Beat," and brought some heart to the charcter. At times I thought he was overacting in "Who I'd Be" and wasn't telling a story like Brian d'Arcy James did. However, I thought he had a strong voice and very solid acting choices.

HAVEN BURTON: She did a terrific job as Fiona. I was very impressed with her acting and her singing was wonderfu as well. She really made the role her own and I am glad I got the oppurtunity to see her.

ALAN MINGO, JR: His Donkey had plenty of humor and made me laugh lots of times. His acting was very strong and I also thought his voice was excellent.

DAVID F.M. VAUGHN: He was definetley one of the highlights of the show. His Lord Farquaad was very funny and he was a great villain.

Overall, I had a blast at the show.

ETA: I loved how the new song written for the Dragon payed a little bit of tribute to Dreamgirls.

I will most likely see it next month and I am looking forward to it. I heard bad things about it on Broadway but I listened to a bit of the OBCR a few weeks ago and liked what I heard. Decided not to listen to the whole thing as I thought it might ruin it a bit for me.

I saw this on Broadway and I will be seeing the tour in January! How were the sets?

The best musical I ever seen! I love the Dragon, and the song Forever. Love every minite of it. In the end of the show i said to myself I want to see it again. Did Flutterbell replace Fairy Godmother in the musical. Because on Jan 27 Flutter Bell made a video about how she is so exicited to see all of Minnisota fans and on.
