re: Shrek the Musical to kick Sister Act out of the London Palladium?

The score of Sister Act is great but the fabulous cast manage to cover up a lot of weaknesses in the book: loose ends in the plot, jokes that fall flat, underdeveloped characters and, fundamentally, a complete lack of understanding about the conflict between faith and carnality.

According to this article in Variety "Sister Act" isn't going to leave London just yet. One of the leads reportedly extended their contracts and the producers want to keep the show open to increase their chances of a Broadway run. However, the show is expected to leave London by 2011. "Shrek the Musical" could get the London Palladium then, but Andrew Llyod Webber's new verison of "The Wizard of Oz" is also looking at the Palladium.

Wouldn't the logical thing be for Shrek to go into the Drury Lane? Surely Oliver can't hold on much longer after Jodie finishes her run.

Then again, I doubt Shrek would sustain much of a run at either venue and would do better at somewhere like the Piccadilly.

If the theater is so huge why would Shrek want to take it? Did they not realize that the 1600-1700 seat Broadway Theater was too big for them. I saw Shrek twice and loved it, but the theatre wasn't sold out (and that was in the summer...)
