Side Show revival announced

Posted: 2/26/05 at 9:12pmNo, Rath. Kristin will play Daisy, and Laura Bell Bundy playing Kristin will play Violet.
re: Side Show revival announced#27
Posted: 2/26/05 at 9:14pmI don't know, meffie - Amy McAlexander plays Kristin way better than Bundy could ever dream of.
re: Side Show revival announced#28
Posted: 2/26/05 at 9:16pmThat's because she's Kristin's clone...
re: Side Show revival announced#29
Posted: 2/26/05 at 9:17pmKristin has a clone? I thought she was a robot.

No one cares about Alice Ripley or Emily Skinner, other than completely obsessed theater geeks. To 99.999999999999% of the ticket buying public their names mean less than nothing.
They could revive this show with whomever they wanted and they'd survive the wrath of the 27 loyal fans of the original cast recording.
Well, it would still tank because the show doesn't work but it wouldn't be because they didn't bring back Emily and Alice.

Posted: 2/27/05 at 3:14amIs this entire thread a joke or is the show actually going to be revived? If it is, I'd be really surprised. I saw the show (and loved it) back in its original production, but it did TERRIBLY money-wise. I remember them actually begging people to come see it during the curtain call. It just doesn't seem like a wise investment.

Posted: 2/27/05 at 5:21amNo, it's completely true. Carol Channing and Jennifer Holliday ARE going to play the siamese twins starting May of 2007. They've bought out Wicked and will be using the Gershwin.

SIDE SHOW is a dreadful musical with a juvenile book and an utterly banal score. The real-life Hilton twins' tragic existence was compromised on every level and in matters that we take for granted (how did they get dressed in the morning?). To squander the dramatic potential of this story on a trite and stupid storyline worthy of a high school soap opera was demeaning and absurd. A deserved disaster.

I think I just had heart failure.
I think the book needs some major rewrites, but the music is gorgeous... and it had an amazing cast which gave it heart, even if the plotline was thin, trite... and a little messy.
And... everything Em and Alice touch turns to gold? Oh, my! Could we possibly knock them down a notch or two on thee good ole pedestal??? Love 'em bunches, but, whoa there sparky!
I have to agree... the show ain't gonna survive another run any better than it did the first time (unless some major rewrites happen), Emily and Alice or no Emily and Alice.
But, WAAAAAH!!! DAMN THIS THREAD!!! You should recieve my medical bills in the mail within a week, ya bahstahd!
